Software quality is a generalised statement difficult to agree or disagree with until a precise definition of the concept of "Software Quality" is reached in terms of measurable quantities.
This year, forty papers were received of which sixteen were presented as full papers and four were presented as poster papers. Although we received many excellent papers the program committee decided to keep the number of full presentations low in order to accommodate more discussion in keeping with the format of a workshop.
Open Distributed Processing (ODP) systems are those that support heterogenous distributed applications both within and between autonomous organizations. For anybody working in industry or research in this field, Open Distributed Processing and Distributed Platforms will prove an invaluable text.
"Performance of Information and Communication Systems", PICS'98, which takes place in Lund, Sweden, May 25-28, 1998, is the seventh conference in a series on performance of communication systems organized by IFIP TC 6, WG 6.3.
The book contains the proceedings of the Third International Working Conference on Distributed Applications and Interoperable Systems (DAIS'2001), which was held in September 2001 in Krakow, Poland, and sponsored by the International Federation on Information Processing (IFIP).
Presents some of the international results in both the theory and industrial practice of the testing of communicating systems. This title discusses topics that range from tools and techniques for testing to test standards, frameworks, notations, algorithms, fundamentals of testing, and industrial experiences and issues.
Many organisations are using an increased range of information technologies to support a variety of new organisational practices and organisational forms. The book also considers the social process of shifting from present organisational structures and practices to new ones.
A virtual prototype is a major interim step towards the creation of a virtual environment. This book explores the simulation, interaction, concepts and tools of virtual prototypes and environments. It provides a mixture of state-of-the-art, advanced research and industrial papers.
As the world becomes increasingly dependent on the use of computers, the need for quality software which can be produced at reasonable cost increases. This IFIP proceedings brings together the work of leading researchers and practitioners who are concerned with the efficient production of quality software.
Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) networks are widely considered to be the new generation of high speed communication systems both for broadband public information highways and for local and wide area private networks.
We are witnessing an ever-increasing thrust toward the era of multimedia information networks, largely spurred by the U.S. Government's proposal for the National Information Infrastructure in the fall of 1993.
Therefore environmental informatics - as we call it today - is also an important domain of computer science itself, because practical solutions need to deal with very complex, interdisciplinary, distributed, integrated, sometimes badly defined, user-centered decision processes.
Intends to provide an account of the explorations and integration of the lessons learned from experimental decision support system implementation. This book considers the various aspects of developing decision support systems in a way which is accessible to a range of participants in the process.
Includes the developments in: security protocols; secure software engineering; mobile agent security; e-commerce security; and, security for distributed computing. This title features the proceedings of the First International Working Conference on Network Security (I-NetSec 01).
Compared to the early years of comp- ing before 1960, where the number of computer projects and applications was small, capturing a holistic view of the history between the 1960s and the 1980s is conside- bly more difficult.
The Eighth Annual Working Conference of Information Security Management and Small Systems Security, jointly presented by WG11.1 and WG11.2 of the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP), focuses on various state-of-art concepts in the two relevant fields.
Mobile computing is one of the biggest issues of computer technology, science and industry today. This book looks at the requirements of developing mobile computing systems and the challenges they pose to computer designers.
Identifying Emerging Trends in Technological Innovation Doctoral programs in science and engineering are important sources of innovative ideas and techniques that might lead to new products and technological innovation.
The International PROLAMAT Conference is an internationally well known event for demonstrating and evaluating activities and progress in the field of discrete manufacturing.
The papers collected here concentrate on knowledge strategies in Product Life Cycle and bring together researchers and industrialists with the objective of reaching a mutual understanding of the scientific - industry dichotomy, while facilitating the transfer of core research knowledge to core industrial competencies.
This book is a collection of selected proceedings from the EUNICE Summer School which took place in Colmenarejo in July of 2005. It covers topics of advanced engineering such as ubiquitous computing, full mobility and real-time multimedia, into real services, applications, protocols and networks.
This book presents selected proceedings from the 22nd biennial IFIP conference on System Modeling and Optimization, held in Turin, Italy in July of 2005. This edition of the conference is dedicated to the achievements of Camillo Possio, who was killed sixty years ago during the last air raid over Turin.
Intelligent Information Processing supports the most advanced productive tools that are said to be able to change human life and the world itself. This conference provides a forum for engineers and scientists in academia, university and industry to present their latest research findings in all aspects of Intelligent Information Processing.
This book contains selected papers presented at the seventh Conference on Working Group 3.7 of the International Federation for Information Processing. The focus of Working Group 3.7 is on ITEM: Information Technology in Educational Management.

Constitutes the refereed post-proceedings of the 9th IFIP WG 3.7 Conference on Information Technology in Educational Management, ITEM 2010, held in Kasane, Botswana, in July 2010.
The papers have been organized into topical sections on privacy and identity management, anonymous credentials, authentication and access control, risk management of identity management, identity management with smart cards, and federated identity management.
This book is a collection of thoroughly refereed papers presented at the 25th IFIP TC 7 Conference on System Modeling and Optimization, held in Dresden, Germany, in September 2011. They are organized in the following topical sections: control of distributed parameter systems; and applications and control of lumped parameter systems.
