Bag om Children's literature in Mozambican Basic Education
The present research results from our readings, informal reflections, debates in the media and our perception of comments from society in general, about knowing how to read or the failure to learn how to read in Mozambique, mainly in Primary Education. The center of analysis is the fact that it seems to us that children demonstrate poor basic reading and writing competence after completing Grade 7. The objective of this study is to analyze the contribution of children's literature in the teaching-learning process of reading in Primary School. To do so, we asked ourselves the following questions: (i) to what extent does the Primary School Curricular Plan contribute to the success of the teaching of children's literature and reading in Primary School? In this paper we propose the introduction of the teaching of reading, using children's literature of local tradition, as this literature, besides having a playful component, also has a pedagogical one.
