With more than 50,000 copies sold in Denmark, this book has been on the bestseller list since its publication in 2017.Barack Obama used a secret competitive advantage to win two elections. Companies such as Google, Amazon and Novo Nordisk use the same insight to stir up innovation, increase compliance, improve the work environment and sell more products. And successful management groups in the C20 index have started using it as their preferred strategy. But what kind of insight are we talking about here? The answer is – behavioural design. Because people in the real world don’t actually behave like the people we build all our usual strategies for. We are opposing human biology and psychology when we insist that good arguments, burning platforms, classic change management, pamphlets, campaigns, and joint meetings are the way to go.Obama, Google and all the rest have instead opted to use an evidence-based approach to change behaviour, and when you’ve read I’m Afraid Debbie From Marketing Has Left for the Day, you can adopt this approach as well. In his book, Morten Münster has converted 40 years of research in human behaviour into an easily accessible method composed of four steps – a helping hand to all managers and employees who are thirsting for alternatives to conventional means.

If you belong to the 20 percent of people who suffer from flight anxiety, here is some really good news: Former nervous flyer and now pilot and neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) practitioner, Lars Toldbo of Fit2fly, has written this inspiring, practical and easy to read book to help anxious flyers overcome their fear of flying. You will be taken through everything from gate to gate; what is happening and why, all the sounds and movements during taxi, takeoff, climb, cruise, approach, landing, and goaround. You will learn about the demands placed on pilots, aircraft, air traffic controllers, cabin attendants, and how aircraft work. In short understand all the requirements and checks that are in place to give us all safe flights. The nervous flyer has a lot of "what-if"-questions. Those will be answered - from turbulence to engine failure. When nervous flyers get real information and facts about flying, they usually stop showing their horror movies of flying on their inner, mental screen. The book also helps nervous flyers to change their negative thoughts to resourceful ones by using effective NLP techniques and offers several methods to relax before and during a flight. If you look for answers to questions like "what if an engine fails?", or "what if the oxygen masks fall?", or "can the wings break off?" or "what if the captain gets ill?", "what happens if lightning hits the aircraft?", or... then you have come to the right place.

‘Why doesn’t he use a spoon?’ is a guide on how to negotiate successfully in international business in the 21st century. Books on commercial negotiation are either written by academics keen to promulgate the results of their latest research or by business people who want to recount their ‘war stories’ from the negotiation battlefield. This book takes the research which is relevant to the international negotiator and adds the authors’ own negotiating experience. What are the main messages of this book?· Win-win is not the same as let’s compromise. As a negotiator you should be trying to get the best possible deal for your side. · Always look for creative solutions, rather than just sticking to your original position.· Prepare yourself thoroughly and keep testing your assumptions by asking questions, a much underrated and underused skill.· Adapt your negotiation strategy, your behaviour and your communication style to suit the people you are dealing with and the culture they come from.· Negotiating can be fun.Between them over the last 35 years, the authors have been on either the sales or buying side of the negotiating table in more than 30 different countries on five continents. For much of that time, they have also worked as trainers of negotiation skills to suppliers and buyers from a wide range of international companies. Throughout the book, the authors refer to examples of real business negotiations, as well as a realistic, though made-up, negotiation between two fictional companies.

Painstakingly restored from Tolkien's manuscripts and presented for the first time as a continuous and standalone story, the epic tale of Beren and Luthien will reunite fans of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings with Elves and Men, Dwarves and Orcs and the rich landscape and creatures unique to Tolkien's Middle-earth.The tale of Beren and Luthien was, or became, an essential element in the evolution of The Silmarillion, the myths and legends of the First Age of the World conceived by J.R.R. Tolkien. Returning from France and the battle of the Somme at the end of 1916, he wrote the tale in the following year.Essential to the story, and never changed, is the fate that shadowed the love of Beren and Luthien: for Beren was a mortal man, but Luthien was an immortal Elf. Her father, a great Elvish lord, in deep opposition to Beren, imposed on him an impossible task that he must perform before he might wed Luthien. This is the kernel of the legend; and it leads to the supremely heroic attempt of Beren and Luthien together to rob the greatest of all evil beings, Melkor, called Morgoth, the Black Enemy, of a Silmaril. In this book Christopher Tolkien has attempted to extract the story of Beren and Luthien from the comprehensive work in which it was embedded; but that story was itself changing as it developed new associations within the larger history. To show something of the process whereby this legend of Middle-earth evolved over the years, he has told the story in his father's own words by giving, first, its original form, and then passages in prose and verse from later texts that illustrate the narrative as it changed. Presented together for the first time, they reveal aspects of the story, both in event and in narrative immediacy, that were afterwards lost.

THE INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER: OVER HALF A MILLION COPIES SOLDIn The Challenger Sale, Matthew Dixon and Brent Adamson share the secret to sales success: don't just build relationships with customers. Challenge themWhat's the secret to sales success? If you're like most business leaders, you'd say it's fundamentally about relationships - and you'd be wrong. The best salespeople don't just build relationships with customers. They challenge them.Matthew Dixon, Brent Adamson, and their colleagues at CEB have studied the performance of thousands of sales reps worldwide. And what they discovered may be the biggest shock to conventional sales wisdom in decades. The Challenger Sale argues that classic relationship-building is the wrong approach. Every sales rep in the world falls into one of five distinct profiles, and while all of these types of reps can deliver average performance, only one - the Challenger - delivers consistently high performance.Instead of bludgeoning customers with facts and features, Challengers approach customers with insights about how they can save or make money. They tailor their message to the customer's specific needs. They are assertive, pushing back when necessary and taking control of the sale.Any sales rep, once equipped with the right tools, can drive higher levels of customer loyalty and, ultimately, greater growth.Matthew Dixon and Brent Adamson are managing directors with CEB's Sales Executive Council in Washington, D.C.www.executiveboard.comwww.thechallengersale.com
The Silmarillion is an account of the Elder Days, of the First Age of Tolkien's world. It is the ancient drama to which the characters in The Lord of the Rings look back, and in whose events some of them such as Elrond and Galadriel took part. The tales of The Silmarillion are set in an age when Morgoth, the first Dark Lord, dwelt in Middle-Earth, and the High Elves made war upon him for the recovery of the Silmarils, the jewels containing the pure light of Valinor.Included in the book are several shorter works. The Ainulindale is a myth of the Creation and in the Valaquenta the nature and powers of each of the gods is described. The Akallabeth recounts the downfall of the great island kingdom of Numenor at the end of the Second Age and Of the Rings of Power tells of the great events at the end of the Third Age, as narrated in The Lord of the Rings.
