Bagest i bogen findes en registrant over ca. 500 danske dødedigte. Grundtvig. EnglishA death poem is a poetic obituary in which the bereaved can express his/her grief through a description of the deceased: the importance of the deceased and his/her relationship with the deceased. In Eftermæle the Danish death poems are described for the first time in the context of the genre to which they belong: the book contains a theoretical description of the genre and a presentation of its history from the conventional death poetry in the latter half of the 17th century up until the individualized poems of our time.Eftermæle contains detailed analyses of both individual texts and writings including readings of poems by other renowned Danish poets. As a conclusion, the poems written on the occasion of the suicide of Michael Strunge in March 1986 are examined; in this section, texts by Vagn Lundbye, Klaus Høeck and Søren Ulrik Thomsen are closely examined. The book is based on literary history, but it also deals with a number of developments within the history of ideas, social history and ecclesiastical history. At the back of the book, there is a register of c. 500 Danish death poems.Sune Auken (b. 1970) has an MA in Danish from the University of Copenhagen in 1996 and holds a PhD scholarship in the Department of Nordic Philology with the project Mythology, History and Christianity in N.F.S. Grundtvig. Forlagets emneord: Litteraturvidenskab - Litteraturhistorie - Litteraturteori - Litterær analyse - Digtanalyse - Dødedigtning - Sophus Claussen - Johannes Ewald - N.F.S.
