The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin, is the memoir account of Benjamin Franklin's life in the United States of America. Benjamin Franklin's memoir is divided into four parts, reflecting the different historical periods at which he wrote them, such as the Colonial period. The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin is the traditional name for the unfinished record of Benjamin Franklin's life, however Benjamin Franklin himself appears to have called the work his Memoirs. Although his Autobiography had a tortuous publication history after Benjamin Franklin's death, it has become one of the most famous and influential examples of an autobiography ever written. The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin is often required textbook reading in various courses that encompass history, the historical United States of America, the Colonial period, and politics & government. Whether classified in the category of biographies & memoirs or classified as an autobiography, Benjamin Franklin's work has garnered widespread praise, both for its historical value as a record of an important early American and for its literary style. It is often considered the first American book to be taken seriously by Europeans as literature.
A compilation of important American government documents including the Declaration of Independence, Constitution of the United States of America, the Bill of Rights and all amendments to the United States Constitution. An excellent educational reference tool to have on hand.

The Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union, commonly referred to as the Articles of Confederation, was the first constitution of the thirteen United States of America. The Second Continental Congress appointed a committee to draft the 'Articles' in June 1776 and proposed the draft to the States for ratification in November 1777. The ratification process was completed in March 1781, legally federating the sovereign and independent states, allied under the Articles of Association, into a new federation styled the "United States of America". Under the Articles the states retained sovereignty over all governmental functions not specifically relinquished to the central government.
