Deals with the geology of the Coastal Plain of North Carolina, which covers the area east of the "Fall Line" or, approx., east of a line through Roanoke Rapids, Raleigh, Southern Pines, and Rockingham. Covers all the formations of the Coastal Plain from the Cretaceous to the Recent. The major part of the field work for this report was done between Jan. 1941 and Aug. 1942. During the latter part of the program, after the entrance of the U.S. into the war, greater emphasis was paid to the present and potential economic resources of the Coastal Plain.
