Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan. This book is a reproduction of the original book published in 1839 and may have some imperfections such as marks or hand-written notes.
John Bunyan (1628-1688) was an English writer and Puritan preacher. He was a member of the Parliamentary army in the first stages of the English Civil War and later followed his father's profession of tinker. From 1661 through 1672, he was imprisoned for preaching without a license. The Pilgrim's Progress (1678 and 1684) is his best-known work. Part One was started while he was in prison and became an immediate success upon publication. Unauthorized sequels helped motivate Bunyan to prepare his own second part several years later. The Pilgrim's Progress is the single most successful Christian book after the Bible itself. In simple and straightforward prose, Bunyan presents an allegory of his own low-church, Protestant theology. Its contributions to our cultural heritage include ideas and names such as the Slough of Despond, Vanity Fair, and muckraking. This book is in the Deseret Alphabet, a phonetic alphabet for writing English developed in the mid-19th century at the University of Deseret (now the University of Utah).

It has been praised for its imaginative storytelling, its spiritual insights, and its timeless message of hope and redemption.IN my travels, as I walked through many regions and countries, it was my chance to happen into that famous continent of Universe. A very large and spacious country it is: it lieth between the two poles, and just amidst the four points of the heavens. It is a place well watered, and richly adorned with hills and valleys, bravely situate, and for the most part, at least where I was, very fruitful, also well peopled, and a very sweet air. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. There is great relief and comfort to Christians that have sinned, to contemplate the office of Jesus Christ as an Advocate. John Bunyan says: "God's people are baffled with the devil for want of a distinct knowledge of Christ in all his offices." He presents a courtroom drama of Christians who have sinned, against Satan who is making accusations before the Father. He explores the where, how, what, when, with whom, and for whom in this exposition of 1 John 2:1; "And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous." This edition is the George Offor text which includes his introduction and footnotes.

The use of Solomon's Temple is described as a foreshadow of salvation through Jesus Christ. John Bunyan used his extensive scripture knowledge to detail seventy Old Testament sacrificial elements and relates the commonality of concept with that of the New Testament. This edition is the George Offor text including his introduction and notes. "Every part of the building, including the foundation, its altar, its courts, the holy of holies, all the utensils, and the ark, were types of that more glorious system which, in the fulness of time, appeared as the antitype, and perfected the Divine revelation. The temple becomes therefore an object of our special attention as a light to guide us while searching into gospel truths."-George Offor

The whole verse runs thus: "And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem." The words were spoken by Christ, after he rose from the dead, and they are here rehearsed after an historical manner, but do contain in them a formal commission, with a special clause therein. The commission is, as you see, for the preaching of the gospel, and is very distinctly inserted in the holy record by Matthew and Mark. "Go teach all nations"
