After the gruesome Nor'easter that left so much snow, the Wee People wondered if they would ever see the ground without it. All in all, the winter was for reflecting on the past and planning for the future. Already, plans for the new gardens closer to Inland Bay were complete. Willem, Aghy, and Tinker had plans laid out for a new Grist Mill for the Coastals as well. Bit by bit they were becoming self-sufficient and it was a good thing to see. Memsyth was becoming a notable figure amongst the Wee People. He and Myr spent more time discussing their legacy. There was new energy leashed in the village with the peals of laughter from the two newest toddlers, Phoenix and Geoffrey. Turk, the Buzzard was diligent in his new job as babysitter after Phoenix chewed up Rose's bed slippers. Geoffrey's dark curly hair and winsome smile charmed everyone. Elsbeth's coming of age was due in large part to the aftermath of the death of her Grandfather Liam. She was exposed to the greed of Thaddeus Pike and another escape from the guards that all added to the feeling she deserted him by not being there when he passed. Myr's dread about the Old Order was not unfounded. Her father had written, "be ever watchful for there are those who would test you in the most inventive ways possible." This danger would indeed test Lady Myr's strength to the limit and leave its lasting and deadly mark. "That's the thing. He turned to leave me and I had just a moment to see his face. Lord Griff, as I live and breathe, there was no visible being in that shroud."

A happier time couldn't be remembered than the recent Homecoming at Gnome Mountain and the following harvest. Everyone was humming tunes, and laughing in remembrance of Elsbeth's face when she was presented a new house all her own. Families were reunited, some after many years separated. Madame Draco's dramatic entry-who could ever forget Dragon's Blue Flame-and the end of Lord Orr; his invading army disbanded and sent back to the ocean and his sons now were prisoners in a village of hot sun and sand. The Coastals of Inland Bay celebrate their new settlement with a gala event. Good news all around with one exception. These events did not go unheeded. Deep within the forests of the Scottish Highlands the leader of the Old Order of Wizards has just learned of the victory at the hands of the villagers of Gnome Mountain. Memories of yore well up in his mind. Events such as these are what nightmares are made of and they become just that for Lady Myr. "Know this, the nightmares will get worse, especially, if they get something attached to you. Some invisible spot, a gift someone gives you that you wear all the time, something. Just remember, this is all in your mind and your best defense right now is logic...of course, they would not approach you directly. It would be subtle, use of a commoner in a low key situation."Life at Gnome Mountain becomes a test of wills, intuitive perception, and strength for The Lady, as Elsbeth and her family look helplessly on.
