Identity conflicts, a prominent feature of our times, a phenomenon of belonging somewhere yet belonging nowhere, are increasingly finding their way into cinema. This book looks at the representations of identity conflicts in India on the canvas of Indian cinema, connecting them with broader socio-political developments in contemporary India. Starting with the historical background of how political developments in Europe like the emergence of Nation states, secularism, modernity influenced socio-political developments in India in the past century, the book looks at how those developments have shaped modern India. While looking at the cinematic representations of a variety of identity conflicts through the lens of cultural and political analysis, it provides insights into how the construct of an Identity and the inherent conflicts associated with it evolve and manifest themselves through the medium of a film.

The three distinct articles which form this paper-based dissertation focus on highly qualified migrants of the first and second generation, and their experien-ces in terms of microaggressions, cultural and language skills, and the interre-lation between cultural identity and bridging skills. The articles expand existing migration knowledge by looking into the experiences of highly qualified mig-rants as research has focused more on the challenges and problematic integ-ration of low qualified migrants, leading to a distorted and unbalanced picture of migrants. The articles not only concentrated on the highly skilled, but also on their individual experiences, and thus provide a more comprehensive insight into the realities of migration.

This book investigates the interface between the epistemological field of education, human development, and digital technologies. Grounded on complexity, actor-network theory, action ecology, and hybridism, the central hypothesis is that an excessively technical conception about the mentioned interface can disadvantage the debate on educational technologies, treating them only as a tool or a means to an end. Through the proposition of ten theoretical categories for understanding digital applications, this work considers that digital technologies expand human skills¿ horizons. Three abstraction clusters (instrument, power, and actant network) derive from the ten categories and compose the SETA model, an evaluative framework to understand educational technologies and possible applications.
