Great European Gardens
- an atlas of historic plansaf Sven-Ingvar Andersson, Margrethe Floryan
The book shows 68 of the finest gardens in Europe with fantastic reproductions of the most important plans and drawings. The selection is the result of many years of research, and the authors, Sven-Ingvar Andersson and Margrethe Floryan, write about the changeing artistic, intellectual and landscapemideals form wich the gardens grew up. The drawings are as fresh and delicately coloured as if the artist had just left the drawing-board, or they have the aura of authenticity that folds, spots and the frayed edges of handmade paper can give them. The book speaks of beauty, knowledge, history and European Identity, and testifies to the univesiality of garden art.
