    Det er Danmark, det er fremtid, det er et helvede. Noget er gået galt, for død er lige pludselig blevet et relativt begreb. Mens folk tidligere pænt blev liggende i graven, efter de havde udåndet, har de nu fået smag for at vandre igen; ikke som genfærd men i en regulær kadavermarch. Desværre er de blevet sultne, mens de lå i jorden, og kun en ting kan øjensynlig bremse deres hunger: Menneskekød. Alt i alt er har den danske befolkning et problem. Der er ingen steder man kan være sikker, for det er et verdensomspændende problem, og det breder som lynhurtigt til alle steder. Dvs. alle steder undtaget de riges højborge, CrystalCity: 142 ens udseende, på alle måder selvforsynende, byer med tilhørende marker og natur. De er alle omgivet af 10 meter høj betonmure med tilhørende alarmudstyr og våben for at holde pøbelen ude. Det er her, de stinkende rige holder til og nyder at bruge deres penge på sig selv. Helt sikre er de dog ikke, for pludselig står "byerne" overfor en trussel, de ikke kan se bort fra. Hvis de ikke gør noget drastisk, kommer de nemlig i samme båd som samfundene uden for murene: En snarlig død mellem en zombies tænder. Imens prøver små grupper af mennesker på at overleve i en verden, der er gået amok, men det synes umuligt at undgå de omvandrende groteske parodier på mennesker. Er det virkelig farvel til Danmarks samlede befolkning for evigt? For ikke at tale om den resterende verden inkl. CrystalCity’s beboere? Denne bog er ikke et rent orgie i splat, som mange ellers kunne komme til at tro. Ganske vist er der seriøst mange scener af den udpenslede slags, men der er mere i denne bog. Gennem hele værket er der en historie til at bære det hele og sørger for, at det ikke bare er ligegyldige ulækkerheder. Bogen kan ikke anbefales for børn eller ældre mennesker pga. sit indhold, men der er sikkert mange, der vil kunne få nogle dage til at gå med at læse om den påbegyndte kadavermarch. Takket være denne bog er Dennis Jürgensen ofte blevet refereret til som splatterforfatter i artikler, uden hensynstagen til hans øvrige omfangsrige produktion.

    Denne korte roman er min første "rigtige" science fiction-historie. Jeg har tidligere skrevet bøger med science fiction-temaer, men de har været blandet sammen med andre genrer, f.eks. Kadavermarch (splatter/SF). Science fiction har altid fascineret mig, både på film og i litteraturen. Det er en genre med stor spændvidde og kolossale muligheder for at gå nye interessante veje. Her er det let at liste det berømte budskab ind i plottet og underholde på samme tid. Filosofi & fantasi kan mødes i en vedkommende handling og samtidig være spændende. Maskiner sanser ikke hud handler om gymnasiedrengen Johnny Uno, der er fuldstændig overbevist om, at han er en maskine. Han taler og tænker som en robot og vil ikke følge velmenende råd fra forældre, venner eller lægen, der alle forsøger at kurere Johnny for hans grille. Johnnys bedste ven, Renny, mener at han er usikker. Johnny skal bare have et kammeratligt skub i retning af den dejlige Diana, som er forelsket i ham. Men Johnny er ikke indstillet på kærlighed. Han er programmeret til at skrive i døgndrift på en mystisk bog, hvis indhold han ikke engang selv kender. Det lyder vanvittigt, men Johnnys mærkelige opførsel afskrækker ikke Diana. Hun flirter livligt og prøver at få ham på andre tanker. Pludselig kommer hun til at stå i vejen for arbejdet med bogen, og Johnny ser kun én udvej: Diana må elimineres! Bogens titel refererer til Philip K. Dick's berømte science fiction-roman Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (På dansk: Drømmer androider om elektriske får?) Efter min mening er det én af de bedste science fiction-titler nogensinde. Romanen blev i 1982 filmatiseret som BLADE RUNNER, et scenisk mesterværk instrueret af Ridley Scott med Harrison Ford i titelrollen. Dennis Jürgensen
