When the angel appeared to Mary to announce that she had been chosen to bear the long-awaited Messiah, Mary must have felt shocked, afraid, dismayed, confused. Yet she responded soon afterward by singing a beautiful song of faith known as the Magnificat.This song glorifying God's presence and promise reveals many of the themes that will later form the foundation of Jesus' ministry: justice, grace, and deliverance.
