Bag om Six Ways to Sunday: From Faith through Doubt to Truth
Andy has earned a coveted spot as the research assistant of his idol, Professor Jay Gordon, a historian with an international reputation for his knowledge of the history of American Christianity. And an open believer. Gordon is a man Andy respects and admires. And a man to whom Andy has to confess the reason behind his wretched, sleepless night, the night that has left him physically and emotionally drained. Andy has begun to doubt. His faith, even his very life's most cherished goals, now hang in the balance. All because of a whale of a tale that Andy thought he had long ago dismissed. "The thought that he was suddenly so close to becoming a nonbeliever felt devastating to him. As if he was standing on the edge of an abyss, about to toss himself into the chasm below. How could he feel capable of denying the faith he had grown up with, had felt his whole life - had even felt a bit superior because of it - and now here he was, on the verge of admitting that he wasn't sure what he believed? All of that hung over him like a great weight and Professor Gordon seemed to sense it. 'Andy, whatever it is, it's not going away on its own. So let's have it, what happened?' Shrugging again seemed like too much effort for too little reward, so instead, Andy just sighed and answered with a question. 'Do you believe Jonah was swallowed by a whale?'" Join Andy as he follows Six Ways, each one intended to lead him from faith, through doubt, to truth. Not the truth he wanted, not the truth he expected his erudite, conservative professor would lead him to. But a truth that could truly set him free. If only he could find the right Way to get there.
