Bag om Soul-Making
These essays span the length and breadth of Theodor¿s career in psychotherapy and evidence the considerable wisdom he has accrued over the course of it. Contained herein are reflections on the nature of psychotherapy, some of the illustrious figures in its history and works which have been penned to cast light on its perennial mysteries. There are rich pickings to be had, ranging from discussions of silence in the micro-theatre of psychotherapeutic relationships, through attempts to lay bare the very real practical (and philosophical and political) issues which members of the Philadelphia Association had to contend with in the days when a viable alternative to state sanctioned psychiatry seemed a real hope for the future, to the ethical twists and turns in the relationship between psychotherapy and religion. These essays, sometimes painfully honest, extend however beyond the realms of psychotherapy and address some of the perennial conundrums of the human condition and our faltering efforts to liberate and make space for the better angels of our nature.
