"Armorgie - That's an unusual surname; where does it come from?" This book tells you how living with an unusual surname can cause curiosity about its origins to the extent that it triggered an obsessive hunt that lasted over 50 years. Amongst the profane humour are some profound observations. The story meanders from Bath, to Leamington Spa, onwards to Liverpool and leaves the UK to circumnavigate the globe. A chance observation led to the discovery of the secretive origins of the name that connect it to the American Civil War. The hunt for origins of the Armorgie surname is a true-life detective story that is woven into the life story of the author, as well as being intrinsically bound up in the socio-political history of both America and Britain. Good fiction has to be believable; reality has its own rules.

What to do in the midst of a bank robbery when you are caught holding the bag? These are some of the perplexities facing a time traveling, shape shifting, inter-dimensional and globe trotting Jewish boy from Brooklyn destined to save the world. Plus it is illustrated in 3D!Portraits of a Lonely Mystic in 3D consists of 80 illustrated chapters depicting adventures of The Lonely Mystic. A farcical comedy in which the protagonists maintain fictitious personæ to escape burdensome social obligations. Working within the social conventions of late Victorian London, the play's major themes are the triviality with which it treats institutions as serious as marriage, and the resulting satire of Victorian ways.
Another entertaining and interesting collection of short-stories covering Key West and New York city.
A not so swift killer clown is on the loose, and the only hope is a washed up detective with time on his hands and bourbon on his breath. As the story progresses, lots of things happen, and many idiots get in the way. This "horror" story is outrageously funny, supremely stupid, and a perfect read for this Halloween season. If you're brave...
Many famous artists, from Klimt to Picasso to Matisse, loved cats. They posed for photographs with them and allowed their feline friends to wander around the studio. Sadly, not enough of them allowed their cats to participate in the art. That is, the artists never let their cats get inside the pictures. As every cat lover knows, the cats must surely have tried. Famous Artists' Cats, inspired by cat artist Deborah Julian's popular images, aims to correct this historic deficiency. Partnering with her own cats, George, Billy and Sam, in 17 full color works of digital art, she has swung open the studio doors and let them get inside the frames at last. Enjoy multiple feline explorations within the imagination of Matisse and Van Gogh. See what happens when a vain young woman in front of a mirror is replaced by a cat. See if George, Billy or Sam can out-parody Lichtenstein. David Stone puts the pictures in perspective comments about he artists and the art being invaded. Deborah Julian's cat art is often funny, sometimes insightful and always respectful of both the artists and the cats.

You don't want a bad boy, my dear; at least not in the real world. You can fantasize all you like about a scruffy, Harley-driving, tattooed beast who does things you thought you'd never allow. But, you don't want to meet him, because eventually he's going to shit all over you, emotionally. You need a nice guy. Forget that nonsense about how anything worthwhile is worth working hard for. If you wanted to buy a horse you could ride around the neighborhood, you would never opt for a wild bronco that would scream, thrash, and resist every attempt you made to civilize him. You'd go for the broken stud, and avoid a broken neck. That's why I suggest you recalibrate your penis-homing device. If you're in a bar, and you spot a tanned God in a vintage T-shirt and sandals who winks and slaps your ass as he walks by, run away. Run toward that kind fellow over there-the one who has been down the aisle a few times, and learned how to behave. Have a nice guy!
Life on the Mississippi is a memoir by Mark Twain detailing his days as a steamboat pilot on the Mississippi River before and after the American Civil War. The book begins with a brief history of the river. It continues with anecdotes of Twain's training as a steamboat pilot, as the 'cub' of an experienced pilot. He describes, with great affection, the science of navigating the ever-changing Mississippi River. In the second half, the book describes Twain's return, many years later, to travel on a steamboat from St. Louis to New Orleans. He describes the competition from railroads, the new, large cities, and his observations on greed, gullibility, tragedy, and bad architecture. He also tells some stories that are most likely tall tales. Simultaneously published in 1883 in the U.S. and in England, it is said to be the first book composed on a typewriter. (Source: Wikipedia)

This book is a collection of humorous stories that illustrate different facets of Jack's life. You will see tales reflecting his youth, his experiences in teaching at the high school and university levels, his volunteer work conducting "Sing Along with Jack" programs, his active participation in church and music, and time spent at the Lazy Time Pickin' Parlor. The stories reflect enjoying a simple good life, where living, learning and sharing are key.

"Ich bin primitiv" Das behauptet der Autor dieses Buches von sich selbst!Ein Journalist: "Ein Meisterwerk der Elendsliteratur. From the creator of Peter Pan, "My Lady Nicotine" is one of his earlier works. Focusing on his days as a smoker, J. M. Barrie takes us through his life as a smoker to his last pipe as he begins his non-smoking days. Barrie's humorous essays about his companions, habits and quitting are sure to delight readers............ Sir James Matthew Barrie, 1st Baronet, OM (9 May 1860 - 19 June 1937) was a Scottish novelist and playwright, best remembered today as the creator of Peter Pan. He was born and educated in Scotland but moved to London, where he wrote a number of successful novels and plays. There he met the Llewelyn Davies boys, who inspired him to write about a baby boy who has magical adventures in Kensington Gardens (included in The Little White Bird), then to write Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up, a "fairy play" about an ageless boy and an ordinary girl named Wendy who have adventures in the fantasy setting of Neverland. Although he continued to write successfully, Peter Pan overshadowed his other work, and is credited with popularising the then-uncommon name Wendy.Barrie unofficially adopted the Davies boys following the deaths of their parents. Barrie was made a baronet by George V on 14 June 1913, and a member of the Order of Merit in the 1922 New Year Honours. Before his death, he gave the rights to the Peter Pan works to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London, which continues to benefit from them
