Social Identity research has found prominence in the realm of collective action but lacks an environmental activism focus. This study gathers individuals¿ experiences to explore the influences on decision-making processes to join an environmental activist group ¿ the local Extinction Rebellion (XR) group in Stuttgart, Germany. This case study is used to identify patterns in this process, to test the applicability of existing models and to explore the significance of social identity. Activists and past activists were interviewed. The results make it apparent that the existing models are not sufficient to represent social identity processes in environmental activism. The findings are visualized in a suggested adjusted model of collective action, which suggests norms and morals and (politicized) social identity as a twin core influencing collective action. Social identity retains its significance at the center of the model. Furthermore, it is suggested that collective efficacy beliefs anda sense of agency are interchangeable factors influencing the twin core and collective action directly. Injustice perceptions remain essential. Social connections, group identification, group dynamics, participatory efficacy, self-identity, and image are found to play a role occasionally but require further investigation. The convergence of collective efficacy beliefs and a sense of agency and the valuation of factors present especially relevant future research topics.

Health inequalities, primarily driven by the structural determinants of health, are a major concern towards the global goal of health for all. A feminist global health policy has the potential to address the unequal distribution of power and to dismantle these imbalances. The prioritisation of intersectional, holistic, human rights-based approaches intends to advance health equality and reproductive justice. This research examined the contours and potentials of a feminist global health policy by developing a framework. Online focus groups were conducted with participants affiliated to either the global-academic or local-activist level, envisaging global representation. The elaborated framework provides a nexus between the global and the local level, by entailing universal principles as well as recommendations and sensitivity for context-specific adaptations. Community and policymakers are identified as key actors. This research aims to stimulate a debate on feminist global health policy and the potential of this framework with regard to health equality and reproductive justice.

Characterizing entanglement is an important issue in quantum information, as it is considered to be a resource for many applications such as quantum key distribution or quantum metrology. One useful tool to detect and quantify entanglement are witness operators. A standard way to construct them is based on the fidelity of pure states and mathematically relies on the Schmidt decomposition of vectors. In this book a method to build entanglement witnesses using the Schmidt decomposition of operators is presented. One can show that these are strictly stronger than the fidelity witnesses. Moreover, the concept can be generalized easily to the multipartite case, and one may use it to quantify the dimensionality of entanglement. Finally, this scheme will be used to provide two algorithms that can be combined to improve given witnesses for multiparticle entanglement.

Wenn man im Rahmen der physiotherapeutischen Arbeit regelmäßig damit konfrontiert wird, dann ist es für Lehrende als Pflicht anzusehen, diese Themen adäquat innerhalb der Ausbildung adressieren zu können. So geht es hierbei nicht nur um den Selbstschutz von Therapeut*innen, sondern auch um eine Befundung von Patient*innen auf allen Ebenen des bio-psycho-sozialen Modells der ICF und somit auch um eine zielführende Therapie. Der Großteil deutscher Lehrpläne umgeht die vermeintlich unangenehme Thematik oder spiegelt antiquierte Sichtweisen wider. Erklärtes Ziel der dreijährigen Ausbildung ist der Erwerb der beruflichen Handlungskompetenz. Zu dieser zählt der Autor unter anderem die emotionale Kompetenz. Die vorliegende Arbeit zeigt didaktische und methodische Ansätze auf, um die Themen Verlust, Abschied und Trauer im Kontext des bio-psycho-sozialen Modells in die Ausbildung zu integrieren und einen bestmöglichen Erfolg in Form einer Steigerung der emotionalen Kompetenz anzustreben.

Bei der Werbeforschung in Bezug auf Anzeigenwerbung gibt es diverse Variablen, welche sich auf die Werbeeffektivität und Akzeptanz von Anzeigen auswirken und durch äußere Umstände beeinflusst werden können. Dabei untersucht dieser Band den Einfluss des Erstellungsprozesses einer Anzeigenwerbung, wobei die Anzeigen zu High- und Low-Involvement-Produkten zum einen durch eine künstliche Intelligenz und zum andern durch einen Marketingexperten erstellt wurden, auf dessen Werbeeffektivität und Akzeptanz beim Rezipienten. Methodisch wird dabei in einem Within-subjects-Design ein Online-Experiment zur Erhebung der Werbeeffektivität durchgeführt. Ein Between-subjects-Design wurde angewandt, um die Akzeptanz der Anzeigenwerbung zu überprüfen. Die Stichprobe bestand aus insgesamt 104 Versuchsteilnehmenden, die das durchgeführte Experiment vollkommen beendet haben. Die gefundenen empirischen Ergebnisse gehen im Wesentlichen einher mit den bisherigen Forschungen zu diesen Themen.

Gegenwärtig befindet sich die Wirtschaft inmitten einer Neugestaltung im Rahmen der digitalen Transformation. Das Buch befasst sich mit der Problematik der Abtreibung, wobei ihre menschenrechtlichen Aspekte und ihr Bezug zur Dienstleistungsfreiheit innerhalb der Europäischen Union im Vordergrund stehen. Mit anderen Worten werden zwei Dimensionen der Abtreibung erforscht. Die erste Dimension hängt mit dem immer noch umstrittenen Konzept der Abtreibung als ein Menschenrecht zusammen, einschließlich der Art und des Umfangs ihres institutionellen Schutzes. Die zweite Dimension ist unterschiedlicher Natur, da sie die Abtreibung nicht als ein Menschenrecht, sondern als eine Gesundheitsdienstleistung im Sinne des EU-Primärrechts betrachtet, und zwar in Bezug auf eine der Grundfreiheiten des freien Verkehrs. In methodischer Hinsicht wird nicht nur auf die Analyse des internationalen Rechtsrahmens für die Abtreibung und der damit verbundenen Rechtsprechung des EGMR und des EUGH, sondern auch auf den Vergleich der nationalen Abtreibungsrechtsvorschriften zurückgegriffen. In diesem Kontext wird auch dasPhänomen des Abtreibungstourismus in Betracht gezogen, das aufgrund der Garantie des freien Dienstleistungsverkehrs innerhalb der Europäischen Union schwer zu verhindern ist.

Teaching is characterized by complex interactions. Therefore, it is difficult to make global statements about a teaching sequence. However, methods that aim at a global assessment of teaching have often been used in indicator-based lesson observation. It remains unclear how reliable global assessments of entire lesson sequences are since no statements can be made about dynamic processes taking place. One approach is the State Space Grids (SSG) developed by Hollenstein (2013). These make it possible to relate the development of two teaching characteristics to each other over time to visualize dynamic processes. However, there is no suitable way to numerically capture the relationship between indicators, e.g. to compare such moment-to-moment assessments with global assessments. The aim of this work is therefore to extend the SSG approach to Advanced State Space Grids with mathematically based parameters, to test their practicability, to compare them with global assessments of entire teaching sequences, and to investigate their applicability to physics teaching. Numerical and graphical elements are added to the SSG plot. These include new relation types between the recorded indicators, chi-square tests, and parameters for densities and deviations.

Die Geburtserfahrung als solche und das Erleben der Mütter in dieser Situation haben nach diesen Erkenntnissen weitreichenden Einfluss auf das postpartale psychische Empfinden der Mütter und die Beziehung zum Kind.Die Autorin thematisiert unter anderem die psychischen Folgen eines belastenden Geburtserlebnisses und gibt Hinweise zu Handlungsempfehlungen für geburtshilfliches Personal.

¿In the realm of global innovation, STEM powers knowledge-based societies. However, ongoing gender disparities curtail the complete utilisation of human capital. As argued in the goal congruity theory, women's choices to communal goals prompts female exits from STEM. Exploring this theory in natural science and academia, two questions arise: 1) Does the "leaky pipeline" persist, and where are gaps? 2) Do female scientists leave to afford other goals? Stats show early career gender balance, but senior positions lack women. Notably, men dominate decision-making roles. Qualitative research with 26 female scientists reveals an overall positive and communal perception of natural science and academia. Moreover, the perceived affordance of communal values within science majorly contributes to the desire of female researchers to continue pursuing an academic path. These findings contradict the literature-established goal congruity theory and thus, provide an experienced-based foundation to extend the complexity of the leaky pipeline phenomenon in natural science.

Partizipation oder auch Kinder- und Jugendbeteiligung beziehen sich u. a. auf eine unterschiedlich umfänglich alltagsgerichtete Teilhabe von jungen Menschen und eine zukunftsorientierte Demokratiebildung. Bei der fast schon inflationären Verwendung des Begriffs "Partizipation" bleibt jedoch häufig unklar, was darunter verstanden wird oder werden soll. Eingebettet in den gesellschaftlichen Kontext der Demokratie als Herrschaftsform wird das dualistische Verhältnis von Partizipation als Chance für Entscheidungsbetroffene versus Partizipation als Instrument der Herrschenden aufgezeigt. Denn auch wenn Partizipation im öffentlichen Diskurs verspricht, eine Möglichkeit des Mitredens und -wirkens zu sein, muss sie nicht zwangsläufig auf Veränderung zielen, sondern kann gleichermaßen bestehende Ungleichheitssysteme stabilisieren. Mit Blick auf Kindheit gilt es besonders die Ungleichheit von Akteur*innen innerhalb der generationalen Ordnung hervorzuheben. Es wird sich mit der Frage auseinandergesetzt, wie Partizipation unter Ungleichen innerhalb dieser generationalen Verortungen und der damit verbunden asymmetrischen Sozialisationsarrangements überhaupt gelingen kann und welchen Möglichkeitsräumen, Restriktionen und Gefahren des Machtmissbrauchs sie unterliegt.

This book is concerned with the polarisation of US society as represented in 27 editorial articles on the presidential election campaign 2020, taken from three different newspapers. The aim of the study is to develop an integrated framework for the linguistic analysis of societal polarisation, which combines findings from the political sciences and sociology with critical linguistic concepts from political discourse analysis and newspaper discourse analysis. The main finding is that all three newspapers, irrespective of their political orientation, make use of polarising discourse around the presidential election 2020 and thus partially contribute to a split US society. The explicit presentation of the media company¿s stance as well as the distinct rejection and the explicit portrayal of aversion towards opposing positions can be detected as main factors in creating a polarising environment. Equally interesting appeared the prevalence of the topos Threat/ Crisis/ Defeat in all three newspapers, indicating a focus on negativity. De-polarising elements are only rarely found and do not seem to be contributing to the easing of tensions in society.

Die Europäische Union und die Mitgliedsstaaten sehen sich daher dringender denn je mit der Frage konfrontiert, welche Maßnahmen dagegen ergriffen werden können. Das Vergaberecht kann dabei eine wichtige Rolle spielen, da es durch die Berücksichtigung strategischer Beschaffungszwecke die Einbeziehung von gesellschaftspolitischen Zielen bei der öffentlichen Auftragsvergabe ermöglicht. In dem vorliegenden Buch wird daher die Entwicklung der strategischen öffentlichen Beschaffung auf europäischer und österreichischer Ebene untersucht. Dabei werden deren Potenziale und rechtliche Grenzen aufgezeigt.

In diesem Buch werden die Auswirkungen von hybriden Arbeitsmodellen auf die Arbeitgeberattraktivität und die Führungskultur von Unternehmen analysiert. Dabei werden zwei Forschungsfragen untersucht: die Bedeutung von hybriden Arbeitsmodellen als Wettbewerbsvorteil und die Auswirkungen des neuen Führungskonzepts "Hybrid Leadership" auf die Führungskultur. Eine Online-Umfrage mit einem standardisierten Fragebogen wurde durchgeführt, um die individuelle Wahrnehmung von Arbeitnehmern und deren Erfahrung mit hybriden Arbeitsmodellen zu erfassen, sowie die Zufriedenheit mit der Führungskultur und den Erwartungen an die Zukunft.

Activitiy based working wird immer häufiger in Unternehmen umgesetzt. Der Grundgedanke von aktivitätsbasierten Arbeiten ist es, dass für die täglich variierenden Tätigkeiten der Mitarbeitenden vielfältige Arbeitsumgebungen benötigt werden. In Abhängigkeit von der anstehenden Tätigkeit, aber auch den persönlichen Vorlieben des Mitarbeitenden wählt dieser eine für sich passende Arbeitsumgebungen aus. Die vorliegende Arbeit legt den Schwerpunkt darauf, die Auswirkungen von activity based working auf die Arbeitszufriedenheit der Nutzer*innen zu identifizieren.

During the development of digital circuits, their functional correctness has to be ensured, for which formal verification methods have been established. However, the verification process using formal methods can have an exponential time or space complexity, causing the verification to fail. While exponential in general, recently it has been proven that the verification complexity of several circuits is polynomially bounded. Martha Schnieber proves the polynomial verifiability of several approximate circuits, which are beneficial in error-tolerant applications, where the circuit approximates the exact function in some cases, while having a lower delay or being more area-efficient. Here, upper bounds for the BDD size and the time and space complexity are provided for the verification of general approximate functions and several state-of-the-art approximate adders.

Miles Weber analysiert die Auswirkungen des Gesetzes zur Modernisierung des Körperschaftsteuerrechts (KöMoG) auf das deutsche UmwStG und überprüft dieses im Hinblick auf seine Europarechtskonformität. Dabei wird zunächst auf die zunehmende Internationalisierung des Umwandlungsrechts durch das SEStEG und anschließend durch das KöMoG eingegangen. Die Aufhebung des § 1 Abs. 2 UmwStG im Rahmen des KöMoG führt zu einem globalen Anwendungsbereich des UmwStG für Kapitalgesellschaften, wohingegen § 1 Abs. 4 UmwStG ausschließlich neu formuliert wurde und Personengesellschaften in Drittstaaten deshalb weitgehend von der Anwendung des UmwStG ausgeschlossen sind. Diese Änderungen werden anhand ausgewählter Fallbeispiele in einen praktischen Kontext eingebettet und es wird aufgezeigt, welche globalen Umstrukturierungsmöglichkeiten nunmehr durch das KöMoG geschaffen werden, aber auch welche bis dato nicht steuerneutral möglich sind. Die dadurch gewonnenen Erkenntnisse bilden die Grundlage für die anschließende kritische Würdigung, in der anhand der Darlegung der Besteuerungsgrundsätze der EU wesentliche Problemfelder des UmwStG aufgedeckt werden.

In recent years, the world witnessed the rise of big digital platforms like Amazon, Airbnb, and Uber. The emerging research field of platform urbanism focuses on these developments and concentrates on platforms and their impact on everyday life in urban space. This book introduces a novel approach to the problems of accessibility and opacity in this area of research. In order to explore the black box platform urbanism more thoroughly, different participatory mapping approaches of critical cartography are examined. The potential of so-called counter-mapping practices and related approaches for a deeper exploration of platform urbanism is discussed. The author thus establishes the nexus between participatory mapping approaches of critical cartography and their application potential for platform urbanism and provides numerous starting points for future research.

This book examines the effect of Covid-19 on loan loss provisions (LLPs) and earnings management of European banks. Specifically, the author analyzes how the high flexibility offered by prudential authorities and standard setters in the context of Covid-19 affects banks¿ use of discretion when accounting for loan loss provisions. She finds that during Covid-19 banks use discretionary LLPs to a greater extent than before Covid-19. This trend is more evident for banks located in countries that have implemented strong containment measures as a response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Moreover, while banks tend to overstate LLPs at the beginning of the pandemic, they do, on average, understate them during 2021. Finally, examining the direction of earnings management the author finds that during Covid-19 banks use upward earnings management, whereas before Covid-19 they engage in downward earnings management.

Austriäs economy is characterized through small and medium sized enterprises. Solo entrepreneurs are considered a special form within SMEs and contribute a major share to Austrian¿s economy besides being Austriäs most popular legal form of organization within the micro firms. In 2020 every second of Carinthiäs start-up businesses was established by a female entrepreneur. According to an entrepreneurship study presented by Volksbank in 2019, nearly half of all female entrepreneurs lived with children and juveniles. Two-thirds of women said they were solely responsible for family, childcare, and household and 71 percent of those female entrepreneurs specified that those circumstances caused difficulties for them. This book investigated Carinthian female solo entrepreneurs and aims to find out how these hard-working women manage their business and private life while contributing to such great extent to the (federal) state¿s economy. The conceptual foundations were found in embeddednessand the contextual framework which supports the importance of numerous influences on different levels placed on the entrepreneur. The empirical section represents a primary research that evaluates self-collected data sets of Carinthian solo-entrepreneurs.

The scope of this study is to investigate the capability of AI methods to accurately detect and predict credit risks based on retail borrowers' features. The comparison of logistic regression, decision tree, and random forest showed that machine learning methods are able to predict credit defaults of individuals more accurately than the logit model. Furthermore, it was demonstrated how random forest and decision tree models were more sensitive in detecting default borrowers.

Structural liquidity risk is a material risk resulting from the core banking business of taking in short-term deposits and lending out long-term loans, thus allowing a maturity mismatch between assets and liabilities. At some point the long-term loans will require refinancing and the institution is at risk of an adverse development of refinancing costs.This book proposes a model for the quantification of structural liquidity risk and describes the underlying methodology and assumptions for stressing the refinancing costs. The change in present value between closing open liquidity positions under stressed refinancing costs compared to current costs is the calculated impact on risk-bearing capacity.

This work focuses on the relationship between childhood socialization, masculinities, and young men's coming of age in contemporary Jamaica. The author elucidates social, cultural, and historical dimensions of young men's lifeworlds and theorizes on the potential trajectories of being emotionally well and/or un-well vis-a-vis gendered normative orders of growing up and relating to others within and beyond kinship and courtship relations. Based on fieldwork, this book elaborates on the extent to which social discourses of masculinity and men's personal experiences of their own and other men's mental health are reproduced in Jamaica. Faulhaber places her work in contemporary psychological and medical anthropology and aims to overcome the separation of psyche, body, and environment that is often common in psychotherapy, psychiatry, and health sciences. The author embarks on this important endeavour through critical and self-reflexive ethnography and the analysis of hegemonic narratives and discourses in media and popular culture. In juxtaposition and extension to other global mental health initiatives, this work highlights that well-being, affliction and suffering can barely be grasped scientifically as objectively measurable mental states of the individual.

It is generally believed that collisions of particles reduce the self-diffusion coefficient. In this book, Erik Kalz shows that in classical systems under the effect of Lorentz force, which are characterized by diffusion tensors with antisymmetric elements, collisions surprisingly can enhance self-diffusion. In these systems, due to an inherent curving effect, the motion of particles is facilitated, instead of hindered by collisions. Consistent with this the author finds that the collective diffusion remains unaffected. Using a geometric model, he theoretically predicts a magnetic field governed crossover from a reduced to an enhanced self-diffusion. The physical interpretation is quantitatively supported by the force autocorrelation function, which turns negative with increasing the magnetic field. Using Brownian-dynamics simulations, he validates the predictions.
