  • - General Theory and Applications of Classical Theory - Volume 1
    af Alexander Ya. Grigorenko
    668,95 kr.

The second chapter examines the numerical techniques thatare used, namely discrete orthogonalization, spline-collocation and Fourierseries, while the third highlights applications based on classical theory, inparticular, the stress-strain state of shallow shells, non-circular shells, shells of revolution, and free vibrations of conical shells.

  • af Wolfgang H. Muller
    572,95 kr.

The book culminates in a multi-layer model for planet Earth according to the PREM Model (Preliminary Earth Model) and in a viscoelastic analysis of the deformation problem, all from the viewpoint of rational continuum theory and numerical analysis.

  • - An Introduction
    af Marcus Aßmus
    572,95 kr.

To construct approximate solutions, a variational method is employed as the basis for computational procedures where the Finite Element Method is applied. To avoid artificial stiffening effects, various integration types are applied, and the solutions generated are subsequently verified with closed-form solutions for monolithic limiting cases.

  • af Sergei Alexandrov
    658,95 kr.

This book deals with singular solutions that appear in the vicinity of maximum friction surfaces for several rigid plastic models. An applied aspect of the singular solutions considered is that these solutions are capable of predicting the development of narrow hard layers near frictional interfaces in manufacturing processes.

  • - Applications of Refined and Three-dimensional Theory-Volume IIA
    af Alexander Ya. Grigorenko
    600,95 kr.

This brief book presents solutions of stress-strain problems for a wide class of anisotropic inhomogeneous shells obtained by the refined model. They study how a variation in shell thickness influences the stress-strain state and consider noncircular cylindrical shells with elliptical and corrugated sections are considered.

  • - Applications of Refined and Three-dimensional Theory-Volume IIB
    af Alexander Ya. Grigorenko
    654,95 kr.

These two-partition books present essential approaches to numerical-analytical solutions of problems in the mechanics of shells with various structures and shapes based on refined and spatial models.

  • af Leonid P. Lebedev, Holm Altenbach & Victor A. Eremeyev
    561,95 kr.

Presents the basics of micropolar continuum including short but comprehensive introduction of stress and strain measures, derivation of motion equations. This book demonstrates the difference between Cosserat and the classic theory. It also considers more specific problems related to the constitutive modeling.

  • - A Consistent Approach
    af Andreas Ochsner
    572,95 kr.

The derivation and understanding of Partial Differential Equations relies heavily on the fundamental knowledge of the first years of scientific education, i.e., higher mathematics, physics, materials science, applied mechanics, design, and programming skills.

  • af Frank A. Coutelieris & Antonios Kanavouras
    668,95 kr.

  • - A Comparative Study
    af Jingkai Chen
    572,95 kr.

This book presents a comparative study on the static responses of the Euler-Bernoulli beam governed by nonlocal theories, including the Eringen's stress-gradient beam theory, the Mindlin's strain-gradient beam theory, the higher-order beam theory and the peridynamic beam theory.

The book presents theoretical and experimental studies of ice fracturing process during impact and explosion load. It shows how to obtain ice in natural and artificial conditions. The book summarizes the results of full-scale experiments for 5 years on undermining ice sheets with emulsion explosives. It presents an algorithm that simulates the process of fracturing of thick ice subjected to blast load, showing that the behavior of ice under impact and explosive loads can be described by a model of continuum mechanics. Qualitative and quantitative assessments of the ballistic perfomance of an ice cube after deep penetration low-velocity projectiles are reported in this book. Some pilot problems are formulated for a deeper understanding of the mechanics of ice fracturing during impact and explosion.

This book provides readers with a deep understanding of the use of objective algorithms for integration of constitutive relations (CRs) for Hooke-like hypoelasticity based on the use of corotational stress rates. The purpose of objective algorithms is to perform the step-by-step integration of CRs using fairly large time steps that provide high accuracy of this integration in combination with the exact reproduction of superimposed rigid body motions. Since Hooke-like hypoelasticity is included as a component in CRs for elastic-inelastic materials (e.g., in CRs for elastic-plastic materials), the scope of these algorithms is not limited to hypoelastic materials, but extends to many other materials subjected to large deformations. The authors performed a comparative analysis of the performance of most currently available objective algorithms, provided some recommendations for improving the existing formulations of these algorithms, and presented new formulations of the so-called absolutely objective algorithms. The proposed book will be useful for beginner researchers in the development of economical methods for integrating elastic-inelastic CRs, as well as for experienced researchers, by providing a compact overview of existing objective algorithms and new formulations of these algorithms. The book will also be useful for developers of computer codes for implementing objective algorithms in FE systems. In addition, this book will also be useful for users of commercial FE codes, since often these codes are so-called black boxes and this book shows how to test accuracy of the algorithms of these codes for integrating elastic-inelastic CRs in modeling large rotations superimposed on the uniform deformation of any sample.

This book helps unlock the root cause of abnormal grain growth in a commercial nickel alloy. The chapters explore the effects of different solution treating and aging techniques, showing how they impact the hardness properties of hot-rolled and cold-drawn Monel K-500. The book covers how high-frequency induction heat treating can lead to severe duplex microstructure, and uncovers the surprising differences between solution treating in vacuum and convection air furnaces. This book is helpful to anyone seeking to optimize the performance of metal alloys.
