The fuzzy logic community is particularly indebted to Abe Mamdani (1941-2010) who, in 1975, in his famous paper An Experiment in Linguistic Synthesis with a Fuzzy Logic Controller, jointly written with his student Sedrak Assilian, introduced the novel idea of fuzzy control.
A detailed description of a new approach to perceptual analysis and processing of medical images is given. Instead of traditional pattern recognition a new method of image analysis is presented, based on a syntactic description of the shapes selected on the image and graph-grammar parsing algorithms.
The second covers fuzzy sets, fuzzy groups and fuzzy polygroups. The following two chapters are concerned with the theory of fuzzy Hv-structures: while the third chapter presents the concept of fuzzy Hv-subgroup of Hv-groups, the fourth covers the theory of fuzzy Hv-ideals of Hv-rings.
Computational Intelligence (CI) has emerged as a novel and highly diversified paradigm supporting the design, analysis and deployment of intelligent systems.
Soft Computing in Green and Renewable Energy Systems provides a practical introduction to the application of soft computing techniques and hybrid intelligent systems for designing, modeling, characterizing, optimizing, forecasting, and performance prediction of green and renewable energy systems.
Machine learning is currently one of the most rapidly growing areas of research in computer science. symbolic learning, neural networks and genetic algorithms as well as providing a tutorial on learning casual influences.
It is quite obvious that such a relevance of decision making had triggered vast research effort on its very essence, and attempts to develop tools and techniques which would make it possible to somehow mimic human decision making related acts, even to automate decision making processes that had been so far reserved for the human beings.
Zadeh, it contains 13 chapters on both theoretical and applied topics in fuzzy set theory, divided in three parts: 1) logics and connectives, 2) data analysis, and 3) media applications. The first part deals with fuzzy logics and with operators on (extensions of) fuzzy sets.

Methods for the artificial evolution of active components, such as programs and hardware, are rapidly developing branches of adaptive computation and adaptive engineering. This book presents theoretical as well as practical chapters concentrating on Evolvable Robots, Evolvable Hardware Synthesis, as well as Evolvable Design.
The support vector machine (SVM) has become one of the standard tools for machine learning and data mining. This carefully edited volume presents the state of the art of the mathematical foundation of SVM in statistical learning theory, as well as novel algorithms and applications.
The book also introduces the concept of "interval valued intuitionistic fuzzy soft topological space (IVIFS topological space)" together with intuitionistic fuzzy soft open sets (IVIFS open sets) and intuitionistic fuzzy soft closed sets (IVIFS closed sets).
One of the most successful methodology that arose from the worldwide diffusion of Fuzzy Logic is Fuzzy Control. At the same time, and very independently from Fuzzy Logic or Fuzzy Control, the birth of the Web has impacted upon almost all aspects of computing discipline.
This book pays homage to Professor Lotfi A. Zadeh, the "father of fuzzy logic" gathering accounts of personal encounters, research papers inspired by his work, and innovative work contributed by several "third generation fuzzysists or softies."
Soft computing includes several intelligent computing paradigms, like fuzzy logic, neural networks, and bio-inspired optimization algorithms. Papers in the third part focus on intelligent techniques for pattern recognition and propose new methods to solve complex pattern recognition problems.
This book pays homage to Professor Lotfi A. Zadeh, the "father of fuzzy logic" gathering accounts of personal encounters, research papers inspired by his work, and innovative work contributed by several "third generation fuzzysists or softies."
The book provides a comprehensive and timely report on the topic of decision making and decision analysis in economics and the social sciences.
It reviews and summarizes previous research work in FTS modeling and also provides a brief introduction to other soft-computing techniques, such as artificial neural networks (ANNs), rough sets (RS) and evolutionary computing (EC), focusing on how these techniques can be integrated into different phases of the FTS modeling approach.
The book offers a comprehensive and timely overview of advanced mathematical tools for both uncertainty analysis and modeling of parallel processes, with a special emphasis on intuitionistic fuzzy sets and generalized nets.
This book offers a comprehensive guide to the modelling of operational risk using possibility theory. The book offers a complete assessment of fuzzy methods for determining both value at risk (VaR) and subjective value at risk (SVaR), together with a stability estimation of VaR and SVaR.
The book is a token of appreciation from the fuzzy researchcommunity to Professor Christer Carlsson for his long time research and organizationalcommitment, which have among other things resulted in the foundation and success of theInstitute for Advanced Management Systems Research (IAMSR) at Abo Akademi University, in Abo(Turku), Finland.
The book is a collection of contributionsby leading experts, developed around traditional themes discussed at the annualLinz Seminars on Fuzzy Set Theory.

Topicsinclude fractional chaotic systems, chaos control, chaos synchronization, memristors, jerk circuits, chaotic systems with hidden attractors, mechanicaland biological chaos, and circuit realization of chaotic systems.
The main focus is on showing current methods for finding the fuzzy optimal solution of fully fuzzy linear programming problems in which all the parameters and decision variables are represented by non-negative fuzzy numbers.
