HMS Pandora was a 24-gun Porcupine-class sixth-rate post ship of the Royal Navy launched in May 1779. The vessel is best known for its role in hunting down the Bounty mutineers in 1790, which remains one of the best-known stories in the history of seafaring. Pandora was partially successful by capturing 14 of the mutineers, but wrecked on the Great Barrier Reef on the return voyage in 1791. HMS Pandora is considered to be one of the most significant shipwrecks in the Southern Hemisphere. This book, "HMS Pandora - In Search Of the Bounty" follows the daily log of Admiral Edward Edwards as he traverses the South Pacific islands in search of HMS Bounty. Readers will enjoy the travel documentaries, beauty, adventure and perils encountered among the islands of the Pacific.
The almost inescapable presence of TV advertising and social media in our lives means we are being constantly bombarded by information. News can be about devastation by natural forces, or the unspeakable atrocities of man's inhumanity to his fellow beings. We are exposed to the appalling behaviour of so-called world leaders and wonder why our young people find it so hard to believe in anything. Closer to home we struggle with broken relationships, illness, tragedy and loss. Coming to the end of 2023, I stopped to look at poems I had written during the year and was reminded of the small things that quietly filled me with joy and hope. They're things that aren't what would be called newsworthy but still they have value. As well as the big traumas, life is about noticing the simple pleasures...

This is a true story of how Bulleringa Station, in far Northwestern Queensland, evolved from a bush block to a cattle station of commercial breeding stock. Then, in 1992, it was purchased by the Queensland Government National Parks of Australia. It is now considered a natural reserve with outstanding flora and fauna. This narrative is a collaboration between Isla Costa and Glady Borgert and depicts the extraordinary experiences and challenging situations that made up everyday life while growingup with family and friends at Bulleringa Station in the far reaches of Outback Australia. At times, there is the raw brutality of everyday life, and then, the contrast of Nature's beauty. Yet, readers are certain to enjoy this compelling narrative that, although sometimes confronting, was typical of that era as this remarkable pioneering family faced many hardships and resentment from neighbours, but they persevered and stayed true to themselves.
This book covers various forms of the production of girmitiya culture and literature. One of the main objectives is to conceptualize the idea of girmitya, girmitology, and girmitiya literature, culture, history, and identity in both colonial and postcolonial contexts. This book aims to document the history, experiences, culture, assimilation, and identity of girmitiya community. It also critically analyses the articulation, projection, and production of their experiences of migration and being immigrant, their narratives, tradition, culture, religion, and memory. It also explores how this labour community formulated into a diaspora community and reconnected/created the home (land) and continues to do so in the wake of globalization and Information and Communication Technology (ICT). This book is an attempt to bring the intriguing neglected diverse historical heritage of colonial labour migration and their narratives into the mainstream scholarly debates and discussions in the humanities and the social sciences through the trans- and interdisciplinary perspectives. This book assesses the routes of migration of old diaspora, and it explains the nuances of cultural change among the generations. We welcome you to your new guide Voyage Experience: "New Caledonia and Loyalty Islands"! We hope it will help you discover these stunning tropical islands with breathtaking nature, rich biodiversity, gorgeous beaches, superb lagoons, many of which have been declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites. If you love to discover new gems, hiking, snorkeling, diving, surfing, sunbathing, horse riding, New Caledonia will surprise you by its incredible richness! We have spent more than two months in New Caledonia and if at the beginning we had not been so enthusiastic about writing a guide about it, we've changed our mind gradually by discovering real gems on these great and so beautiful islands. It's true that after living for three years in Martinique and its gorgeous beaches, we were thinking that we'd find the same spots here and were a little bit disappointed. Nevertheless, we succeeded in finding breathtaking beaches with stunning lagoons... so patience is one of the keywords in New Caledonia. As for nature, it conquered us from the start with its incredible diversity, perhaps the richest we have ever encountered so far. Therefore, if you are patient enough to read till the end and see some of our photos, you'll understand by yourself that New Caledonia is really an island that worth the journey. New Caledonia is an archipelago formed by a main island, called Grande Terre, 400 km long and 50 km wide, and more than 140 islands. One of the best known is the gorgeous Île-des-Pins (Isle of Pines) but there are also the Loyalty Islands to the east: Ouvéa, Lifou and Maré.

”’Huleforsker’! ’Huleforskning’!
