This rather simple question posed by David Bankier, one among many historians of the Third Reich who have been unable to satisfactorily resolve this issue, raises a whole host of complexities which come to dominate any examination of the impact of antisemitic propaganda upon the German population. Have historians, such as Yehuda Bauer, been too willing to assert that Nazi propaganda targeted and subsequently radicalized a pre-existing bedrock of latent antisemitism among the German people? Such assertions would seem to substantiate Frank Bajohr¿s suggestion that antisemitic propaganda functioned within the framework of National Socialist rule as a ¿dictatorship of bottom-up consent¿, a Zustimmungsdiktatur which was firmly rooted in the German population¿s growing responsiveness to the leadership of the Third Reich. However, the validity of Bajohr¿s claim is somewhat undermined by contemporary evidence of the German population¿s reactions to antisemitic measures, particularly in SD reports, which frequently reflect Jeffrey Herf¿s argument of ¿a radical Nazi minority operating in a society with a less radical but broad antisemitic consensus, a consensus broad enough to render people indifferent [...]¿. Such indifference must be viewed in terms of a situation whereby the collective concerns, and collective opinion, of the German population were suitably divorced from the abstracted and de-historicized idea of ¿the Jew¿ propagandized by the Nazi leadership throughout the war to render the German population desensitized to the plight of the Jews.

Die in Nürnberg entstandenen Bauten der nationalsozialistischen Architektur, wurden von Hitler und seinen Architekten als Beleg für den Ewigkeitsanspruch des "Dritten Reiches" entworfen. Sie waren nach wenigen Reichsparteitagen und sechs Kriegsjahren nichts weiter als ein riesiges Aufmarschgelände mit mehreren stillgelegten Großbaustellen vor den Toren des fast vollständig zerstörten Nürnbergs. Dennoch sind die baulichen Hinterlassenschaften im Kontrast zur sonstigen Bebauung und Infrastruktur so überdimensional, dass sie bis heute den Südosten Nürnbergs optisch prägen. Wie mit dieser Hinterlassenschaft, dem ehemaligen Reichsparteitagsgelände, umgegangen werden soll, hat die Nürnberger Bevölkerung und auch überregionale Öffentlichkeit seit Kriegsende 1945 schon mehrfach beschäftigt. Mehrere Generationen haben sich mit dem Erbe der baulichen Überreste nationalsozialistischer Selbstinszenierung auseinandergesetzt - und dies geschah über die vergangenen 70 Jahre hinweg auf unterschiedliche Weise: Zunächst herrschten Pragmatismus und Verdrängung vor. Pragmatismus deshalb, weil das Wenige, das nutzbar schien, weitergenutzt wurde - die Zeppelintribüne als das, was sie auch bei den Reichsparteitagen war, als Zuschauertribüne und das Zeppelinfeld als Versammlungs- und Veranstaltungsort für Massenveranstaltungen. Verdrängung deshalb, weil auch Teile des Geländes und der Bauten einfach beseitigt wurden. Von der Luitpoldarena und ihren Zuschauertribünen, vom Märzfeld mit seinen gigantischen Türmen ist nichts mehr zu sehen. Die Kolonnaden der Zeppelintribüne wurden 1967 gesprengt, die Seitentürme abgetragen. Über die Beseitigungen hinaus ist auch die Weiternutzung der Bauten jahrzehntelang ohne jeglichen Hinweis auf die Geschichte und Bedeutung des Geländes geblieben, die "trivialisierte Nutzung" der Bauten außerhalb historischer Einordnung kann auch als Verdrängung interpretiert werden. So steht Nürnberg und das Reichsparteitagsgelände durchaus symptomatisch für einen nicht nur hier vorzufindenden wechselhaften Umgang mit dem Erbe des Nationalsozialismus.

Und so auch ein weiteres Thema im Zusammenhang mit der NS-Zeit, der Widerstand. Neben der Weißen Rose und der Roten Kapelle, ist besonders ein Ereignis präsent. Unter dem Ausdruck: "Das Stauffenberg-Attentat" oder Bezeichnungen wie "Unternehmen Walküre" oder schlicht "Der 20. Juli 1944", kann sich, so mag man annehmen, jeder etwas vorstellen. Und so ist auch nicht verwunderlich, dass der Widerstand gegen das NS-Regime eine wichtige Einheit im Geschichtsunterricht einnimmt. Auch die neuen Medien greifen gern das Thema Widerstand in ihren Produktionen auf. Sowohl deutsche Produktionen haben sich mit dem Thema Widerstand befasst, als auch die großen Hollywood-Firmen. Einem breiten Publikum wurde der 20. Juli 1944 2008, durch den Blockbuster "Operation Walküre ¿ Das Stauffenberg-Attentat", bekannt. Tom Cruise verkörperte hier die Rolle des Claus Schenk Graf von Stauffenberg. Diese Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit den Ereignissen rund um den 20. Juli 1944, unter anderem auch mit der Darstellung in dem Spielfilm "Operation Walküre - Das Stauffenberg Attentat" von 2008. Spiegelt der Spielfilm die historische Wirklichkeit wieder oder ist es mehr Fiktion als Wahrheit?

This study examines the relationship between war and postcolonial identity in a range of African and American literature. This inquiry focuses on twentieth century ¿literature of the displaced author¿, as expressed in fictional writings which show the ways personal trauma are reflective of collective experience. This study explores the ways a number of indicative postcolonial writers have presented psychological and political consequences of post-war trauma across generations. It argues that World War I and World War II have had a profound impact on shaping the way life has been lived as seen in work by African writers such as Chinua Achebe, J.M. Coetzee, Nadine Gordimer, and Doris Lessing, and Americans, such as Saul Bellow, Don DeLillo, Cormac McCarthy, Philip Roth, Leslie Marmon Silko, and John Edgar Wideman. The argument proposes a method for reading canonical texts of postcolonial writers as narratives of protest, transgression, and regeneration.

Hier, auf demMünchner Oktoberfest manifestierte sich dich staatlich institutionalisierte Propaganda; verknüpft ist dieses Volksfest mit der in der Forschung oft geäußerten Frage nach der MünchnerBesonderheit im NS-Staat, bzw. der Frage danach, wie ausgerechnet München zur ¿Hauptstadt der Bewegung¿ werden konnte. Als ein Phänomen nationaler NS-Propaganda muss also auch das Münchner Oktoberfest verstanden werden. Es werden die zwei grundlegenden Elemente der NS-Gesellschaftspolitik deutlich ¿ zum einen der faszinierende Pomp, realisiert in Umzügen und prätentiösen Großveranstaltungen, wie sie etwa die Veranstaltungen zum 125-jährigen Oktoberfestjubiläum zeigen. The purpose of this work is to identify the US involvement in East Asia and Pacific region with the reference to the US - Japan Security relations. The containment policy and the US dominant power in post-World War II marked amity relations with Japan to address the US policy concerns in East Asia. Okinawa Island performed a strategic role to address the shared security concerns by two countries during the Cold War. The book examined the common security concerns and the significant strategic use of Okinawa island by the US. Applying RFID transponders to consumer goods will be common, creating an ever-present computing environment spanning all parts of every day¿s life. Today RFID commerce already constitutes a vital and ever-expanding market. Judging by evidence from recent years, RFID industry will continue its rapid growth during the following years. In such a developing market security and privacy become increasingly important. They define security as a composite of the attributes confidentiality, integrity and availability (also called CIA).In this context, confidentiality means the absence of unauthorized information disclosure.

The purpose of this study was to determine the student¿s knowledge and awareness of Internet Advertising in Nigeria. Survey research was used. The basic theoretical framework upon which the work stood was Technology Determinism. Four research questions were presented for empirical evaluation; while 790 respondents were surveyed, scientifically drawn from the population. The findings from this study indicate that the students are aware and knowledgeable about the Internet Advertising. They have been influenced by it, have made purchases as a matter of Internet Advertising, and also prefer Internet Advertising to other forms of advertising media. Finally, it is recommended that government should make Internet Services available everywhere. This will go a long way in helping students that wish to surf the Internet in the country.

Thus, this study attempts to investigate the potential impact of Donald Trump¿s nascent foreign policy towards the Gulf crisis of 2017. It aims to analyze the roots of the GCC crisis, and focus on the outrages and the real damage that have defined Trump¿s approach to foreign policy towards Qatar. Therefore, a qualitative method was adopted, and all the data collected are analyzed using a descriptive and analytical approach. At last, this research shows that no matter the surreptitious motives that are declared about Qatar¿s blockade, Trump has been the crisis center of gravity from the beginning of the actions of the blockading countries. Hence, Trump¿s lack of coherent policy in the Middle East comes with real costs and has pushed the region further away from strategic equilibrium and toward greater state fragmentation and conflict between Gulf States.
