Mä¿dir T¿r¿kh al-¿om¿l wa Mar¿ji¿ahu. ¿Arä wa Naqad: This book tackles the most important issues faced by researchers of Somali history, which is the difficulty of knowing the sources and references of Somali history due to the scattering of those sources and references and the lack of a guide or helper to point to them. Hence, the book sheds light on this area and provides researchers with a great service that fills this gap in a country that has completely collapsed and in which all the fundamentals and foundations of research have been lost, hoping it would be a guide for researchers of the history of the Horn of Africa region in its different eras, especially since it is considered the first book in Arabic - at least - to have this title and see the light.¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿ ¿¿ ¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿. ¿¿¿ ¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿ ¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿ ¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿ ¿¿ ¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿ ¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ - ¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿ - ¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿.¿¿About Mäallin:Dr Mohamed Hussein Müallin Ali was born in Mogadishu in 1964 where his primary and secondary education took place. »¿¿¿ bauhaus« (selam bauhaus) means »hello bauhaus« in Amharic, one of the most important languages in Ethiopia. Visually, one could also interpret the Amharic letters as "Why Bauhaus" to question the overuse of this label during the Bauhaus Centennial in 2019. So, why Bauhaus?100 years ago, the teaching of architecture and urban design at the Bauhaus responded to rapid changes in society and their impact on the built environment. The ambitions and methods of the historical Bauhaus can still inspire us in the present day: Today, facing global climate change and human migration, these themes are more pressing than ever. Through the Emerging City Lab Addis Ababa (ECL-AA), the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and the Ethiopian Institute of Architecture, Building Construction and City Development (EiABC) at Addis Ababa University established a joint lab. Combining innovation and social responsibility through experiments with building materials, practices and planning technologies beyond cultural, social, and disciplinary boundaries, this publication shows educational and research projects that emerged from the collaboration. In 2019 they were presented in the exhibition »¿¿¿ bauhaus (selam bauhaus) - hello bauhaus« on the occasion of the centenary of the Bauhaus and the 65th anniversary of the EiABC.
"The new, extensively revised, third edition of Bradt's East African Wildlife guide provides a user-friendly overview of East Africa's peerless wildlife - not only 'big game' and other large mammals (an alluring list that includes elephant, lion, leopard, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, gorilla and chimpanzee), but also birds, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates. Excellent for independent travellers, it excels as a standalone guide combining both wildlife and visitor information, and is also a perfect complement to traditional field guides or to Bradt travel guides to Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda. From the snow-capped peaks of Kilimanjaro to the sultry Indian Ocean coastline, with a range of habitats that span parched desert and vast transparent lakes, open savannah and tropical rainforest, east Africa is simply the world's finest wildlife-viewing destination. Straddling the Equator and bisected by the magnificent Great Rift Valley, it is a true Mecca for wildlife enthusiasts. It harbours the continent's most popular safari locations, including legendary reserves such as the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Maasai Mara, Samburu, Murchison Falls, Bwindi and Tsavo. Written by Philip Briggs, the world's foremost guidebook writer on Africa and a wildlife expert, East African Wildlife covers the fauna of Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda. Some 240 colour images by acclaimed photographer Ariadne Van Zandebergen illustrate many animals likely to be encountered, while the engaging text extends beyond basic identification features to illuminate the natural history, habits, whereabouts and ecology of the species that visitors will encounter. To enable you to plan a safari that suits your interests, East African Wildlife offers top tips for optimising your wildlife experience, a 'where to go' overview which outlines the key wildlife attractions at major sites within each country, and advice on when to visit. There's even an engaging section about 'wildlife from your window', for when you are staying in towns and hotels. Accessibly written and beautifully illustrated, the guide will appeal both to the first-time visitor and to the serious naturalist seeking a compact volume to carry around - and one that will sit proudly on bookshelves thereafter as a compelling souvenir of an unforgettable holiday."

Uganda is probably the best country to visit for access to African butterflies, with a wide range of habitats and a very pleasant climate all year round. The road network is good, providing access to accommodation that is clean, with good food and a warm welcome. This second edition has 70 colour plates, 14 more than the first edition, with 96 more photographs, covering 33 more species. All photographs were taken during five visits to Uganda, between 2016 and 2020, mostly, but not exclusively, in places that visitors will go to see other animals, such as birds, chimpanzees or gorillas. The major habitats can be roughly equally divided between savannah and forest, both of which are comfortable to walk in and offer a rich selection of butterflies, with about 1270 species on the list, about double what South Africa has to offer. We have provided a brief description of the places we would recommend but you will find butterflies everywhere in Uganda.

This a collection of travel stories by the author while he was posted in different countries of the world during his Indian Foreign Serice career. Originally written in Odia, the book has been translated in Hindi by Mihir Patnaik.
The original forests of the central and northern highlands of Ethiopia are almost entirely confined to the "sacred groves" surrounding the churches and monasteries of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church. In Ethiopian tradition sanctity starts from the Tabot on the altar of the church and extends to the outer periphery of the compound. Church forests serve as shade and shelter for the sacred, and are seen as integral parts of the churchyard. The Act of Gebre Menfes Qiddus (GGMQ) is an original Ethiopic hagiographic text. It depicts the life and struggle of the saint in the wilderness of forests and mountains. Hagiographic texts like GGMQ are in Ethiopia not mere historical records, but texts linked to the daily liturgical services that shape and mould the perceptions and actions of their readers and listeners. The aim of the thesis is to analyse how GGMQ presents the relation between the saint and the natural environment in order to see if there is a correlation with how the Ethiopian tradition has preserved the church forests and has considered these to be sacred spaces representing the wilderness. The aim is achieved through a close reading of the text and its intertexts using four selected themes as analytical instruments: ascetic estrangement, coexistence with non-human creation, identification with the angels and reconciliation of opposites. The analysis, and the fact that the GGMQ is one of the most venerated texts, read and heard with great liturgical solemnity, show that there are good reasons to believe that the constant reading of GGMQ has made and makes a significant impact upon the readers' views on the mutual co-habitation of human and non-human creation and the development of an awareness of the need to preserve the wilderness and non-human creation.
Food stood at the centre of Mussolini's attempt to occupy Ethiopia and build an Italian Empire in East Africa. Seeking to redirect the surplus of Italian rural labor from migration overseas to its own Empire, the fascist regime envisioned transforming Ethiopia into Italy's granary to establish self-sufficiency, demographic expansion and strengthen Italy's international political position. While these plans failed, the extensive food exchanges and culinary hybridizations between Ethiopian and Italian food cultures thrived, and resulted in the creation of an Ethiopian-Italian cuisine, a taste of Empire at the margins. In studying food in short-lived Italian East Africa, Gastrofascism and Empire breaks significant new ground in our understanding of the workings of empire in the circulation of bodies, foodways, and global practices of dependence and colonialism, as well as the decolonizing practices of indigenous food and African anticolonial resistance. In East Africa, Fascist Italy brought older imperial models of global food to a hypermodern level in all its political, technoscientific, environmental, and nutritional aspects. This larger story of food sovereignty-entered in racist, mass settler colonialism-is dramatically different from the plantation and trade colonialisms of other empires and has never been comprehensively told. Using an original decolonizing food studies approach and an unprecedented variety of unexplored Ethiopian and Italian sources, Cinotto describes the different meanings of different foods for different people at different points of the imperial food chain. Exploring the subjectivities, agencies and emotions of Ethiopian and Italian men and women, it goes beyond simple colonizer/colonized binaries and offers a nuanced picture of lived, multisensorial experiences with food and empire.
