Author John Kachuba bravely visits more than twenty-five haunted places in Ohio to give readers first-hand frights from the safety of their armchairs. For readers curious -- and courageous -- enough to "e;hunt"e; on their own, maps and travel information are provided to every haunted location.
Two distinct communities which share equally vibrant histories, the twin cities of St. Joseph and Benton Harbor possess a rich heritage rooted in agriculture, manufacturing, transportation, and tourism. Through more than 200 photographs, this book documents the cities' development from the time when pioneers first struggled to create a community in the wilderness. It pays tribute to the men and women who labored to establish farms and industries, and celebrates the delightful beaches and amusement parks-such as the House of David and Silver Beach-that have brought joy to generations of residents and visitors alike.

Seit 2010 arbeitet sie zu postindustriellen Landschaften.-The artist's book Detroit presents the contemporary urban landscape of this de- industrialized metropolis as an overlay of social and natural history. The catchwords "ruin porn" and "future city" are currently being used in the media to describe what was once celebrated as the "Motor City". In her photographs and texts, Franziska Klose describes a landscape absolutely consumed by industry, its structure a manifestation of social inequality, despite all the conjurations of an imminent economic boom. The story of the "comeback" is set against land speculation and water shut-offs and contrasts with the emergence of a potential post-growth society based on urban agriculture and individual autonomy. Franziska Klose is an artist and photographer. She has been working with post- industrial landscapes since 2010.
During its more than a century as a Cleveland suburb, Cleveland Heights has been shaped by the natural topography, technology, enterprising developers, elected officials, and its residents of many backgrounds. The result has been a rich mosaic of places and people. In the 1890s, wealthy Clevelanders began to leave the city's smoky factories and congested neighborhoods for the "heights" in East Cleveland Township. In 1901, the heights became the hamlet of Cleveland Heights. As its population changed, so did the suburb's homes, shops, schools, parks, and places of worship. Today, Cleveland Heights is as diversified as its citizens, its eclectic architecture and neighborhoods, and its unique history.
