Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2023 im Fachbereich Weltgeschichte - Frühgeschichte, Antike, Note: 3,0, Freie Universität Berlin, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Diese Arbeit widmet sich den Ursachen, aber auch den Folgen des Jüdischen Kriegs, oder auch den Jüdischen Aufständen, ab dem Jahre 66 n. Chr. bis etwa 74 n. Chr.
As famine overtakes the land, Simeon leads his brothers into Egypt to buy grain. He doesn't recognize the vengeful ruler he must bow before: Joseph, his long-lost brother, the very brother Simeon sold into slavery years ago. Now, it is the brash Simeon's turn to endure imprisonment. Only Mandisa, the handmaid who interprets the ruler's language, is his saving grace. The beautiful widow and her young son see another side of Simeon, the tenderness beneath the tough exterior. As much as he would like to, he will never be free to love them until he unshackles the chains around his own heart.
The spread of the Vikings disseminated Norse culture and also brought foreign cultural influences into Scandinavia, with profound historical consequences that would echo into later medieval periods.Popular modern conceptions of the Vikings often differ sharply from the actual, complex culture revealed by archaeological findings and other historical sources. Vikings have been alternately romanticized as noble savages and intrepid adventurers and reviled as bloodthirsty piratical raiders. You'll learn:Who the vikings were and why they raided their neighborsHow the vikings used runestones to tell stories about the gods and themselvesWhat life was like in the viking age for an ordinary viking familyWhat vikings at war fought with and lived and died forAbout their myths and their pantheon of gods including freyja, odin, thor, and lokiTheir language also affected europe, and many norse words formed the foundation of many of today's major languages. The world experienced and learned from their tactical warfare, smart trading, and daring explorations. The vikings were bold and had a great many heroic moments. They built strong, beautiful, and efficient ships, and sailed great distances. The significance of ancient art forms in archeology and history is well documented. Their norse mythology is familiar, even today.

One called him son. One called him brother. One called him husband. And all three suffered for him.¿This epic novel tells the story of Moses from the viewpoints of the women who loved him-from his mother and sister, who saved him by giving him up to the Egyptian princess who adopted him, to the shepherd's daughter he married. Under the shadow of ancient Egypt, a baby boy is born to a peasant woman. His young sister leaves him in a basket in a river, hiding in the rushes to watch over him until a princess comes to claim the child as her own. The princess names him Moses, and he grows to become a man whose life is characterized by violence and terror, but equally by faith, and whose sacrifice ultimately leads to the redemption and liberation of his people from slavery. "The Shadow Women" is a novel full of passion and intrigue that offers a fresh perspective on one of the most enigmatic figures in biblical history.

This book comprises a collection of essays that shed light on some of the key humanitarian issues that have emerged in independent Ukraine since the fall of the Soviet Union. With a strong empirical focus, the chapters explore pivotal events such as the 1990 Student Revolution on Granite (referring to the stone of Kyiv¿s Independence Square), the 2004 Orange Revolution (named after Viktor Yushchenkös campaign color), and the 2013¿2014 Revolution of Dignity (also known as »Euromaidan«). The book examines the evolution of a robust civil society, the emergence of a Ukrainian political nation, and the ultimate achievement of national unity among Ukrainians. These developments are not only analyzed in the context of Ukraine¿s recent state-building successes but are also viewed as a continuation of the country¿s longstanding national liberation struggle for independence from Russia. Of particular note, the book highlights the ongoing re-evaluation of established stereotypes surrounding the roots of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, which the author, Kvit, presents as a clash of civilizational values. These thought-provoking essays by one of Ukraine¿s most prominent political intellectuals will prove valuable not only to those with an interest in Ukraine but also to scholars across a range of disciplines, including mass communications, political science, philosophical hermeneutics, history, and higher education.
Western academics, experts, and journalists specializing in Eastern Europe, Russia and Eurasia have grappled with two fundamental analytical crises in connection with the 1991 disintegration of the USSR and Russiäs 2014 invasion of Ukraine. Both crises were brought about by a similar lack of understanding of Moscow¿s inability to view its neighbors, in particular Ukraine, as not possessing sovereignty and not treating them as independent states. Typically, they downplayed the historic and current role of Russian imperialism and nationalism. The book¿s contributors investigate how the Kremlin¿s recent turbo-charging of Russiäs information warfare, 24-hour TV, and social media activity has expanded on traditional pro-Russian sentiments among Western academics, experts, and journalists. The authors analyze the downplaying of Russian nationalism, misinterpretations of the 2014 crisis, sympathetic portrayals of Crimeäs occupation, and the use of the term ¿civil war¿ rather than ¿Russian-Ukrainian war¿ for the Donbas conflict in academia as well as the think tank world and media in the UK, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Japan, USA, and Canada.

American Fighter Aircraft of World War II is a detailed guide to all the fighter aircraft types deployed by the USAAF and US Navy from 1941 to 1945. "How did the imperial cult affect Christians in the Roman Empire? "Jesus is lord, not Caesar." Many scholars and preachers attribute mistreatment of early Christians by Roman authorities to this fundamental confessional conflict. But this mantra relies on a reductive understanding of the imperial cult. D. Clint Burnett examines copious evidence-literary, epigraphic, numismatic, and archaeological-to more accurately reconstruct Christian engagement with imperial divine honors. Outdated narratives often treat imperial divine honors as uniform and centralized, focusing on the city of Rome. Instead, Burnett examines divine honors in Philippi, Thessalonica, and Corinth. While all three cities incorporated imperial cultic activity in their social, religious, economic, and political life, the purposes and contours of the practice varied based on the city's unique history. For instance, Thessalonica paid divine honors to living Julio-Claudians as tribute for their status as a free city in the empire-and Christian resistance to the practice was seen as a threat to that independence. Ultimately, Burnett argues that early Christianity was not specifically antigovernment but more broadly countercultural, and that responses to this stance ranged from conflict to apathy. Burnett's compelling argument challenges common assumptions about the first Christians' place in the Roman Empire. This fresh account will benefit Christians seeking to understand their faith's place in public life today"--
