Beginnend mit einer kurzen Einführung in die Handlung und den Erfolg der Comicreihe, wird der Fokus auf die Frage gelegt, wie nahe die Schöpfer an antiken Quellen gearbeitet haben. Die Analyse konzentriert sich dabei auf die Darstellung der Figuren, insbesondere der Gallier, Druiden, Barden, Frauen und Römer. Neben literarischen Quellen wie Caesars "De Bello Gallico" werden auch gegenständliche Quellen wie Münzen und Statuen berücksichtigt.
