Manto's Urdu translation was published in 1934. The publication of Oscar Wilde's play on the subject of the Russian Revolution created an uproar in its time. In exploring the temporal and territorial differences between the Ottoman capital and the provinces, Suciyan brings the unheard voices of Armenians into the present. Drawing upon the rich archival materials in both the Archives of the Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople and the Ottoman Archives, Suciyan uses these to show the integral role Armenians played in all aspects of Ottoman life and argues that accounts of their lives are vital to accurate representation of the Tanzimat era. In the middle era of Ming Dynasty of China (1368 - 1644), Su San, also named Yu-tang Chun, Zhou Yujie, was a daughter of the Mayor of Datong, Shanxi. After both her parents had died, she was abducted and sold to a brothel in Beijing and forced to become a prostitute a few years later. She met Wang Jinglong, the third son of an ousted minister of the Emperor. Su San and Wang Jinghong fell in love immediately. But Wang was expelled from the brothel and had to leave Su San when he had spent all his money. Before long, Su San was sold to a wealthy merchant, Shen Hong, to be his concubine. Wang was finally reunited with Su San after all the ordeals.

L'Odyssée relate le retour chez lui du héros Ulysse, qui, après la guerre de Troie dans laquelle il a joué un rôle déterminant, met dix ans à revenir dans son île d'Ithaque, pour y retrouver son épouse Pénélope, qu'il délivre des prétendants, et son fils Télémaque. Au cours de son voyage sur mer, rendu périlleux par le courroux du dieu Poséidon, Ulysse rencontre de nombreux personnages mythologiques, comme la nymphe Calypso, la princesse Nausicaa, les Cyclopes, la magicienne Circé et les sirènes. L'épopée contient aussi un certain nombre d'épisodes qui complètent le récit de la guerre de Troie, par exemple la construction du cheval de Troie et la chute de la ville, qui ne sont pas évoquées dans l'Iliade. L'Odyssée compte douze mille cent neuf hexamètres dactyliques, répartis en vingt-quatre chants, et peut être divisée en trois grandes parties : la Télémachie (chants I-IV), les Récits d'Ulysse (chants V-XII) et la Vengeance d'Ulysse (chants XIII-XXIV).L'Odyssée a inspiré un grand nombre d'¿uvres littéraires et artistiques au cours des siècles, et le terme odyssée est devenu par antonomase un nom commun désignant un récit de voyage plus ou moins mouvementé et rempli d'aventures singulières .

Les Hymnes homériques sont une collection de trente-quatre (ou trente-deux, suivant les décomptes) courts poèmes épiques. Aujourd'hui, on estime que le plus vieux des hymnes, celui à Déméter, remonte à l'époque d'Hésiode.Chacun des hymnes est dédié à un dieu, et est destiné à être chanté par l'aède en guise de prélude ou proème (du grec ancien prooímion), avant de passer à une ¿uvre plus longue. Les Hymnes homériques varient par leur sujet, leur taille (de cinq à cinq cent cinquante vers), leur époque de rédaction (entre le VIIe s. av. J.-C. et le IVe siècle de notre ère): rien de plus disparate, de plus incertain, donc, que cette compilation de poèmes.
