Adelbert von Chamisso (1781-1838) war ein deutscher Naturforscher und Dichter französischer Herkunft. "Seine Hinwendung zur Natur und die Konsequenz, mit der er schließlich seine Neigung zum Beruf machte, die Erfahrungen des Weltreisenden als Teilnehmer einer russischen Entdeckungsexpedition; die liberalen Anschauungen des aus einem alten Adelsgeschlecht stammenden Dichters, der sich bis in seine letzten Jahre hinein einen Blick für soziale Missstände bewahrte und für alles Neue aufgeschlossen blieb, rücken seinen Lebensweg, der vor mehr als 150 Jahren endete, in ein verblüffend aktuelles Licht."
