The Nabob is a novel written by French author Alphonse Daudet. The story is set in 19th century France and follows the life of a wealthy businessman named Jrme-Napolon Topinard, who becomes a ""nabob"" after making a fortune in the East Indies. He also provides a vivid portrayal of 19th century France, with its social hierarchies, political intrigues, and cultural norms.Overall, The Nabob is a compelling and thought-provoking novel that offers a glimpse into the world of the French elite during the late 1800s, as well as a commentary on the nature of wealth and power.1902. With a critical introduction by Professor W.P. Trent. A frontispiece and numerous other portraits with descriptive notes by Octave Uzanne.
