The Lord's Table: A Help To The Right Observance Of The Holy Supper is a religious book written by Andrew Murray and first published in 1897. The book is a guide for Christians on how to properly observe the Holy Supper, also known as the Eucharist or Communion. The book is divided into three parts. The first part discusses the meaning and significance of the Holy Supper, the second part focuses on the preparation for the Holy Supper, and the third part covers the actual observance of the Holy Supper. Throughout the book, Murray emphasizes the importance of approaching the Holy Supper with reverence and a spirit of humility. He also stresses the need for self-examination and repentance before partaking in the sacrament. The Lord's Table is written in a clear and accessible style, making it suitable for both individual and group study. The book has been praised for its practical advice and spiritual insights, and it continues to be a popular resource for Christians seeking to deepen their understanding and practice of the Holy Supper. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Andrew Murray, "Humility: The Beauty of Holiness," "Humildad: La Belleza de la Santidad."
Written in 1888, "Abide in Christ" is Andrew Murray's beautiful and inspiring spiritual guide to a deeper and more meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ. While born in South Africa in 1828, as Murray's father was a Dutch Reformed Church missionary sent from Scotland, Murray grew up educated in Scotland and later the Netherlands. He returned to South Africa in 1848 after his ordination, pastored several churches all over South Africa, and was an important forerunner of the later Pentecostal movement. Murray was an important proponent of the "Higher Life" or "Keswick" movement which believed that after one's initial baptism into the Christian faith one must continue to work on a second blessing from God. This second blessing or purpose is possible by living a more holy and less sinful daily life. The idea of continuing to practice a Godly and Christian way of life is central to Murray's eloquent guide "Abide in Christ." The title is taken from Jesus's description of the relationship with his disciples, that they must "Follow me." In this 31-day meditative and spiritual guide, Murray shows the reader how they too may abide with Jesus in their daily lives and thus achieve a more profound and intimate relationship with Christ. This edition is printed on premium acid-free paper.
