Enforcer of the Sons of Thunder Motorcycle Club, Mason Hackett, aka Rambo, has worked hard to carve a place of respect and trust within the group of men he calls brothers. Ellen Abrams a widow and mother to JD, a boy with autism, accepts a position as principal at Brookfield Alternative High School in Milwaukee. One night Mason's and Ellen's carefully crafted worlds collide. While attending a rally the Sons of Thunder are hosting, Mason becomes the target of club president, Spider Mullen's, and vice president, Mad Dog's wrath. Deliberately disregarding club protocol, Mason has invited Jack Nelson, the owner of Fortunate Sons' Auto dealership, to the rally without their permission. If the invitation puts Mason in the good graces of Jack Nelson, his punishment will be worth it. Jack is the only person who can free Mason from the monotony of mill work and offer him a life of easy cash and the thrill of a daring life style. After promising Spider and Mad Dog, he will take full responsibility for Jack's actions, and offering them a solemn apology, Mason escapes with only a single blow to the abdomen and orders to stand guard at the end of the road. A humbled Mason accepts the task, but not before finagling a ride on his motorcycle. On her way home from a colleague's cabin, Ellen's car breaks down and she finds herself stranded on a dark, lonely highway, with no cell reception. As night encroaches, horrific memories of the accident that killed her husband seven years ago, resurface. Finally a single headlight splits the darkness. When Mason Hackett rolls up behind her, and peers into the window of the car, his long, wind-swept hair, intense eyes, and formidable club colors escalate her fears. However, Mason's offer of help and his sincere regard of her safety, alleviate some of her distress. With no other alternatives available, Ellen agrees to ride back to the rally with him. While sitting behind Mason on his motorcycle, her thighs squeezing his, Ellen experiences a resurgence of sexual desire, she thought had died with her husband. At the rally, Ellen is introduced to a bizarre world where sexual promiscuity, violence, and drugs are taken for granted. She watches Mason's girlfriend, Desi Harrington, an exotic dancer, dance upon a flatbed trailer, while Mason serves as her dancing pole. She witnesses a card game between a drunken man and woman that leads to vicious knife fight between the woman's husband and her opponent. Yet despite the unrefined rawness of Mason's world, throughout the night Ellen continues to be infatuated with Mason and finds herself resentful of the fact he has a girlfriend.Mason too, can't stop watching Ellen and is surprised by how attracted he is to a woman so obviously not of his world. Their attraction does not go unnoticed by those around them. Dee Dee Mullen, Spider's wife, warns Mason that Ellen is not one of them and Desi's jealous nature is evident the moment he introduces the two of them. At the end of the night, Mad Dog offers Ellen a place to sleep in his tent, and Mason can't understand why he is so envious of his best friend.Days after the rally, the two of them meet once again and succumb to their passion. A relationship ensues that pits one world against the other. Mason meets JD, Ellen's ten-year-old son with autism and realizes in order to keep Ellen he must be a father figure to the boy. The task seems like a hopeless endeavor. At the same time, Jack Nelson hires Mason to be his hit man for his lucrative drug trade. Although Mason begins to make more money than he thought possible, his risky profession begins to topple his relationship with not only Ellen, but with the Sons of Thunder. One day Jack pays Mason to kill Mad Dog. A treacherous showdown is planned. In a twist of fate, Ellen becomes an unwitting pawn in their deadly scheme.
