Ética a Nicômaco é a principal obra de Aristóteles sobre ética. Neste livro, ele se propõe a examinar a natureza da felicidade, argumentando que a felicidade consiste na atividade da alma de acordo com a virtude: as virtudes morais, como coragem, generosidade e justiça e virtudes intelectuais, como conhecimento, sabedoria e discernimento. Aristóteles discute também sobrea natureza do raciocínio prático, o valor e os objetos de prazer, as diferentes formas de amizade e a relação entre a virtude individual, a sociedade e o Estado. Esta obra teve uma influência profunda e duradoura em todo o pensamento ocidental posterior sobre questões éticas.

Als Werk des großen Aristoteles ist eine Schrift Peri Kosmou (De mundo) überliefert, die das Wissen der klassischen Antike über Kosmologie, Geographie, Meteorologie und weitere Teile der Naturkunde, aber auch über die Rolle der Gottheit in der und für die Welt zusammenfasst. Im 2. Jahrhundert n. Chr. hat der heute vor allem als Autor des Romans Der goldene Esel bekannte Philosoph das Werk frei ins Lateinische übertragen und dabei für eine römische Leserschaft angepasst. Eine deutsche Übersetzung von Apuleius' De mundo fehlte bisher. Der vorliegende Band macht nun beide Werke erstmals zweisprachig zugänglich und erschließt ihre Bedeutung für die antike Kultur.
