This is the Spanish translation of Jamie Buckingham's popular book, Power for Living. Necesitamos a Dios. Necesitamos a Su Hijo, Jesús. Y con la fuerza de Dios trabajando dentro de nosotros, podemos tener poder para vivir.
What is the real story why Jesus turned water into wine? Why did Jesus really heal the sick? Why are some healed and others not? Did Jesus really have power over nature to calm the storms and walk on water? When did Jesus really multiply the 5 loaves and 2 fish to feed 5000 people? Are demons real? Did Jesus really raise a dead man back to life and why? Jamie Buckingham's remarkable book on the miracles of Jesus takes us on an exciting adventure as he leads us through the history and culture that surrounded some of Jesus' most notable miracles. If you believe in your head but doubt in your heart that God still works miracles, you will find Jamie's book, "10 Miracles of Jesus," a great way to take a closer look at the miracles of Jesus -- then and now. Jamie points out that the biblical accounts of these and other miracles of Jesus are either lies of the first magnitude or they are literally true. If they are lies and the Bible is false, then Jesus was the biggest con man who ever walked the face of the earth. But if the Bible is true and these miracles really did happen, then the same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead can work supernaturally in you, today. This book is a fascinating look at some of the miracles of Jesus and the compelling stories of what still happens when ordinary men and women of God refuse to place limits on the miracle-working power of our heavenly father. "Anything is possible for the one who believes" (Mark 9:23). (This work was also published under the title, Miracle Power.)
Healing is at the very heart of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Lord manifested Himself-He made Himself known-through healing. Why healing? Because that is where God's heart is. God's heart is toward suffering people. Jesus didn't countermand medicine. He just went beyond it.This book, taken from a teaching by Jamie Buckingham, explains why the healing power of Jesus is still relevant for our lives today. As Jamie states, those who truly desire to move with God will eventually come to understand that God cares for us and wants to heal us. Jamie also discusses what the Scriptures say about people who refuse to believe that God still heals. Many Christians don't understand that the miracles of Jesus are still for us today. But the command has never changed-God's people are still called to minister healing and deliverance, just as Christ instructed in Matthew 10: "As you go, preach this message: The kingdom of heaven is near. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give."
The time: approximately 1,200 years before the birth of Jesus Christ. The place: the Sinai Peninsula, that barren and remote desert which separated Egypt from the Promised Land of Israel. Into this burning crucible, Moses led the children of Israel. They were on foot fleeing the bondage of Egypt where they had spent the last 480 years. They were on their way to claiming their inheritance, a land they had never seen, a land flowing with milk and honey. Go with Jamie Buckingham as he follows the footsteps of Moses through the Sinai Desert and teaches the same lessons God taught those ancient Israelites, lessons still important today.
What is it really like to be inside the Kingdom of God? Is everyone just lounging around all day, leisurely chatting? No hard work, all relaxation? What Jamie Buckingham describes in this booklet is probably far different from your own vision of what being in God's Kingdom is really all about or should be all about. Jamie answers the question so many Christians posed to him in the course of his ministry: "If we have inherited the Promised Land, then why am I constantly back here in the wilderness?" In other words, why is my life still so hard even though I have been a follower of Christ for so long? Why do we as Christians still go through hard times? Jamie answers these probing questions with three questions of his own. First, do you know who is causing the adversity in your life? Is it God or is it Satan? Second, do you really want God in your life, and third, if you really want God in your life, how can you get Him to be active through your life with His purposes not yours? He then answers this final question with three primary steps on how to get God to move into your life. This booklet will open your eyes to the realities of following God and being a servant of the Most High. It will show you how a life in the kingdom of God is full of adversity, hard work and spiritual growth. The milk and honey of the Promised Land is not free and easy. You must diligently work for it. Living inside the Kingdom of God may not be what you think.
We live in a culture that has set a very high standard for beauty. But what if you are not beautiful? What if you are short, wear thick glasses, or don't fit into designer jeans? What if everyone around you turns the other way when you walk by? What if you are plain - or just plain ugly?Meet Leah, a woman in the Bible who had to deal with more than being unattractive - she also had to contend with her beautiful sister. And to make matters worse, both sisters were married to the same man! How does God see us? Is He concerned with our outward appearance? Or does He only look at who we are on the inside? This booklet, based on a sermon by Jamie Buckingham, is about Leah and how she came to know God's love, despite her less-than-perfect appearance. It's also a story about you and me and the rest of the ugly people in the world - and the fact that God looks beyond our physical imperfections to see our heart.
There is a lot of shaking going on in the body of Christ. It is a deep shaking that may feel like our roots are being pulling out. The shaking of God comes in the form of crisis, or hurt, or some other form of physical or emotional pain. If that is happening to you, ask yourself this question: Who is doing the shaking? Is it God or is it Satan attacking? Remember, as a Christian, even if it is the Devil, God controls the work of Satan as it affects the lives of His followers. If you are a child of God and have committed yourself to the Lord then you are under His control and His protection. There is a call of God on the life of each Christian, to move from a place where you worship golden idols, as the ancient Israelis did at the base of Mount Sinai, to a place where you can have an experience with God, alone, as Moses did at the top of that same mountain. But that call demands a change in your life. When God moves in your life change will occur. The question is: will you cooperate with God or will He have to shake you up a bit? Change calls for us to move out of the way of pride and into the way of humility. And if you are not willing to humble yourself on your own, to change your ways, God will change you, and it may not be comfortable or painless. When God shakes you, things get broken.
The majority of these interviews grew out of my daily drives for Uber and Lyft. Each time I picked up a new passenger I would ask them one question: What are some of the things you have learned in life? Most were very willing to talk to me, and I found many of their responses to be intelligent, thoughtful, occasionally humorous, and often very wise. After a while I decided their answers would be interesting to others and make a good book. So I created a form to be filled out during our short time together. I told them there was no right or wrong answer. I just wanted their honest thoughts. Most of my riders agreed to participate, and I promised to use only their first name, age and occupation, if they provided it to me.Eventually I expanded my base and posed the question to others I met in the normal course of life. I interviewed over 165 people from ages 5 to 95. Every person had unique lessons they have learned from life, no matter how long or short it has been.In the following pages are their answers, in their own words, to the simple question: What three things have you learned in life?
Jamie Buckingham wrote: "If we truly believe God is in charge, we might as well relax and enjoy life."Thus is the theme of this wonderful book taken directly from a message spoken to the James Robison Evangelistic Association Conference in Ft. Worth, Texas, in 1989.Jamie gets personal with fellow pastors as well as with himself saying, "It's time for Christians to come out of the closet and admit that we are just like everybody else and laugh at ourselves just a little bit."Jamie's stories are funny, but they make a point. Like the parables of Jesus, each story is with purpose, and a little bit of humor. "There are some folks out there who say that Jesus didn't laugh very much," Jamie writes. "But they just don't understand Jewish humor."This book will make you laugh, and think, and perhaps allow you to enjoy life just a little more than before.
In the last sermon he ever preached, Jamie Buckingham said, ""If I fold my tent now and quit, then the pain I've already experienced and the suffering I've already walked through are for nothing. All the things I've learned throughout this entire ordeal (his battle with cancer) will have been wasted, and the future blessings God has promised for my children and my grandchildren and many others around me will be gone" He went on to say, "We can't afford to stop. We simply can't afford to quit. We must finish the work the Lord has given us, so we can be complete...All you have to do is endure your situation. Persevere. And when God knows you've reached your limit, He will step forward with His faithfulness and bring you through." Jamie Buckingham died in 1992 at the age of 59, after a near 2-year-long battle with cancer. Unbeknownst to him, this was to be the last sermon he preached at his beloved church in Melbourne, Florida, before being taken to his eternal rest with the Lord. This booklet is taken from that sermon. His words of wisdom still speak today to any situation you or I may be experiencing that requires perseverance and God's faithfulness.
Bruce Buckingham is a collector of stories - his own. He loves taking his own real-life experiences and weaving them into fictional (and sometimes not-so-fictional) tales. In this series of short stories, written over many years, Buckingham intertwines intriguing, true-to-life characters with believable, real-life situations-or, sometimes, with situations that stretch the boundaries of reality. His imagination knows no limits. In this eclectic collection, his stories include "The Dream Keepers," "Florida Frost," "Carolina Rain," "The Book," "It's Easier Going Home," "Harry's Last Fantasy," "Death of a Rose," and his novelette, "Diving Buddies."
Do you want to hear from God, but you have trouble discerning His voice in your life? Do you want to obey the commands of God, but you don't have the power to do so on a daily basis? Do you want to be able to stand in the Last Days, but you don't know if you have what it takes? In this booklet, taken directly from one of his sermons, Jamie Buckingham provides answers to these questions and more. Using Hebrews 10 as his text, Jamie addresses several essential principles that determine our capacity to hear God, obey Him, and live according to His perfect plan and purpose.
Jamie Buckingham shares how the weights in this life, like the weights on a grandfather clock, keep us moving in the right direction. Without them, we may stop seeking God's guidance, or just stop altogether.Jamie states that when God molds and shapes a person, He will often place weights on them - burdens in their life that they must bear, crosses for them to carry, hardships to endure. It's amazing how fruitful our most serious disappointments can be if we will simply let God lead us in the process.
This book of reflections on life was written very early in Jamie Buckingham's career as a writer. The majority of these stories grew out of a series of daily radio commentaries over Station WCRS, Greenwood, South Carolina, when Jamie was a young, but "senior" pastor at the South Main Street Baptist Church from 1959-1966. "After each recording, the manuscripts fell back into my dusty files," he wrote years later. "They would have stayed there forever had it not been for a friend and author, Irene Harrell, from Wilson, North Carolina."This was supposed to have been Jamie's first book, but events overtook its publication, and five other books were published first, including his very first book, Run Baby Run, and other books written for Kathryn Kuhlman, including God Can Do It Again. Some Gall's 67 sharply drawn sketches are not only good reading but thought-provoking as well. Filled with insight, they are prefaced by relevant scripture and conclude with a very personal prayer, reflecting the down-to-earth spirituality of a man who sought God's message in his day-to-day life.Jamie characterized himself as "a rebel, fighting against the sameness and traditionalism of the establishment" for as long as he could remember. He viewed writing as an opportunity to express himself in ways more lasting that preaching three sermons a week, which he continued to do with great enthusiasm until his death in 1992.
