I'd Like To Introduce You To....Me. Who am I and what is this book about? That is a good question. I am Cari Lynn Vaughn and I am an author. I've published over 50 books since 2000. Much of my writing was done before my first book was ever published. As I began typing and publishing all my handwritten manuscripts, I began writing Introductions to all my stories. What you hold in your hands is a collection of all those introductions. This book will give you insight as to when each story was written and what inspired it If you are curious about the writing process or a particular piece of mine, then this book is for you.

Freedom For Celestria is a romantic epic in the tradition of The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Star Wars. It draws from such Shakespearean classics such as Pericles, The Winter's Tale, Cymbeline, and The Tempest as well as from the 80s Cartoon She-ra. It also draws from the Kabbalah and Canaanite mythology. Elora is the hero of this modern myth. She and her twin brother Ean are the heirs to the throne of the planet Celestria. Elora was kidnapped by the Hive commander Draco as a baby and raised by him as Imogen in his fortress and factory known as the Machine. Ean finds her and together they join the rebellion. Elora is strong, smart and compassionate. She is the very embodiment of the goddess Asherah, who guides her in her quest to drive the evil Hive from Celestria, through the use of her magic sword. Although it is packed with action and adventure, at the heart of the story are the themes of family, friendship, faith and feminism. The story is very much a metaphor for the fight for our own planet.

Pathos is Greek for Feeling, specifically Experience and Suffering. Pathos can mean passion in a speech or a method of rhetoric to pull the feelings out of an audience. In this collection of dreams, Cari goes deep into her emotions and deals with a variety of issues. She has moved away from the larger more mythic themes to incredibly personal and intimate ones. Her subconscious brings to light feelings she didn't know she had and allows her to develop relationships with people she hasn't in her waking life or have deeper relationships with people she has met, but never got a chance to resolve her feelings for. This collection can be read alone as its own inner narrative or alongside Cari's Subtext Diary Series. Either way, you will be drawn in and suffer with Cari on her journey as you experiences it as your own.

Movies and television have always been a passion of Cari's and huge influence on her writing. As an English Professor and Scholar, Cari read a great many essays on great works of literature. And although she has no former training in Film Criticism, she has read and watched film reviews since she was twelve. Growing up Entertainment Weekly and the TV Guide were more important to her than the local newspaper. She also enjoyed watching review shows such as Siskel and Ebert at the Movies and then later Ebert and Roper. At the end of each show they always say, "See you next week, until then the balcony is closed." This was a great way of signifying that the critics watched the films that they were reviewing in the theatre and not at home or in a studio. She chose the title Couch Critic because most of the movies she saw were viewed from her couch. She came of age during the late 80s and early 90s when TVs and VCRs were in nearly every house. The informality of the title also suggests that Cari is not a trained or schooled critic. Her essays were originally written out of the passion she had for the subject and a need to explore the various themes that she recognized. Over time, she posted many of these essays on her blog Carilynn27 on Wordpress. Here, in one volume, are Cari's collected Essays and Blogs on Movies, Television and Actors. She covers Star Wars, Alias, Lost, Willow, Legends of the Fall, The Red Shoe Diaries and many more!
