Their team is quickly captured by a local who thinks they are illegal immigrants from Mexico. The Guardians come and transport the team members to their space station orbiting the Earth. The Guardians, who are known as the D-Mxors, and The Kaleen team must work together to return back to the present time. These explorations lead her deeper inside herself and she is able to find peace with her past. By Summer, she has produced her new novel Freedom For Celestria and her book of Mythological Themed Poetry Persephone's Echo and a paper on Lost. Then things take a darker turn as fall finds Cari dealing with a miscarriage and discovering Gnosticism. The Vandals and the Visigoths attack the fort and settlement where Terry's family lives and Mariah is kidnapped. She is discovers that she is with child only after she has been made a slave. Mariah escapes to give birth alone. Later, she and Terry are reunited and Terry gets to meet the baby son he never knew he had. Mariah and Terry decided to sail back to Rushmal Shalin. Baby Airyon falls ill during the long sea journey and dies once they arrive home. Mariah falls into a deep depression. Part three finds Mariah and Terry being crowned King and Queen of Falcon Castle, but the distance between them grows. Mariah loses herself to memories of the past, wondering if she made the right choices. Terry leaves her and she falls into a dead faint. The doctor says Mariah is now with child again. Prince Kaysem sends word to Terry and sends Mariah to her cottage to rest. Later, Mariah wonders through a snow storm to find Terry. They are reunited and she tells him that he is all she ever wanted. The two return to Falcon Castle and Mariah gives birth to her baby girl Hana. Mariah realizes that she found the hero inside herself and that the citizens of Rushmal Shalin and Falcon Castle could do the same...

Movies and television have always been a passion of Cari's and huge influence on her writing. As an English Professor and Scholar, Cari read a great many essays on great works of literature. And although she has no former training in Film Criticism, she has read and watched film reviews since she was twelve. Growing up Entertainment Weekly and the TV Guide were more important to her than the local newspaper. She also enjoyed watching review shows such as Siskel and Ebert at the Movies and then later Ebert and Roper. At the end of each show they always say, "See you next week, until then the balcony is closed." This was a great way of signifying that the critics watched the films that they were reviewing in the theatre and not at home or in a studio. She chose the title Couch Critic because most of the movies she saw were viewed from her couch. She came of age during the late 80s and early 90s when TVs and VCRs were in nearly every house. The informality of the title also suggests that Cari is not a trained or schooled critic. Her essays were originally written out of the passion she had for the subject and a need to explore the various themes that she recognized. Over time, she posted many of these essays on her blog Carilynn27 on Wordpress. Here, in one volume, are Cari's collected Essays and Blogs on Movies, Television and Actors. From 1996 until the spring of 1998 Cari continues trying to heal, grow and make something of her life. Though she finds strength in her relationship, she still struggles with her disability in Math and a string of stressful jobs. Being robbed at gun point at work and being kicked out of her house make her realize that her life will always be tinged with sadness. When she hears the term Mono No Aware in her Elements of of Japanese Culture Class, it sticks with her.

Cari begins anew when she moves from North Carolina back to Ohio in December of 2003. Her dreams of getting back on her feet are far more difficult than she anticipates. For the first few months, she lives with her husband and baby at her parent's place. Eventually, her husband gets a job and then she gets a job teaching at Marion Technical College in the Spring of 2004. This allows the Vaughn family to get their own place, but they continue to desire stability they don't have. Cari gets a job teaching at North Central and Columbus State Community College the Fall of 2004. Then, in 2005, she finds an opening at Ashland. But teaching poses a great many challenges for her. Between her financial woes, health problems, a failing marriage and her struggles in teaching, Cari falls into another depression. She reaches out to her ex-boyfriend only to be abandoned by him once again. It takes a long time for her to regain her strength and heal.

The benefit of Liberal Arts is a well rounded individual who knows about more than just a specific skill set. The Liberal Arts, Cari Vaughn found, is quickly becoming a lost art. From 1994 to 1999 Cari took classes for her BA in English at The Ohio State University at Mansfield. Part of an getting an English Degree is taking some Liberal Arts Electives. In addition to taking Math and Science, Cari also took Introduction to Anthropology, Elements of Japanese Culture, African Art and Archaeology and History of Germany in the 20th Century. These classes helped Cari Vaughn understand the world around her and this collection of notes can provide insight for you as well.

An avid movie fan, Cari has deemed herself The Couch Critic. Although she does make it to the theater few times a year, she mostly watches movies on VHS, DVD and, now, Netflix. Movies of every genre have filled her hours and inspired her in her writing. Many of these television shows and movies have made their way into the 30 plus books she has published over the years.

Music is meditation and movement. It is also inspiration, particularly for Cari Lynn Vaughn. What began with a Hollie Hobie record player turned into compulsive compilations on tape, and later, CD. Collected her for the first time is a list of Cari's comprehensive music collection. Each compilation is titled with the idea that the word "I am" or something can be placed before it. The titles are taken from a song or songs on the compilation, signifying a singular theme. In addition to the music catalog, Cari has also provided several blogs on her musical passions and a complete list of artists currently in her media player.
