This book is a compilation of all of Cari Lynn Vaughn's Reading Lists over the past 35 years--a record of all the books Cari picked up and perused from the time she had just learned to read until the time of the publication of this book. However, it wasn't until she went on an academic reading binge in 1998 when she started keeping a record of everything thing she had read Inspired, she started reading nearly anything and every-thing. Each new book was picked up because she wanted to research a particular author or text and those texts led her to other texts and so on. And now you can read the record of her long literary journey in these pages.

A Commonplace Book is a book to write things down and keep notes in. Authors often keep such notebooks and each is unique to the author who keeps them. Cari has collected notes from the books she has read among other things. Here, between these pages, is a glimpse into the the information she felt was interesting or important. Much of it became inspiration for stories or contemplated in her diary. Cari has been taking notes since age 12 and keeping them tucked away "just in case." This, of course, was before the internet. At age 14 she got books out books from the College Library for research because her local library didn't have anything on the subject of Peace Movements. These days she has her Master's Degree in English Literature, but researches everything from Buddhism to Gnosticism to Psychology.
