This volume presents four convictions: everyone needs to know how to sell; everyone has to sell, thoughts if not things; leadership depends upon conscious application of the principles of selling; and that a study of the principles of selling is the best possible preparation for success. Following these convictions, there are four facts: selling is simply applied common sense; selling demands no hypnotic personality; selling needs no special cleverness; and trickiness, slickness, are not only unnecessary, but undesirable qualities. From these two sets of related inferences, one draws a final one: everyone should learn how to sell, and everyone possessed of ordinary common sense can learn how to sell. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. To all who love and relish the simple gospel of the grace of God, I would earnestly recommend the following "Notes on the Book of Genesis." They are characterized by a deep-toned evangelical spirit. Having had the privilege of reading them in MS., I can speak as one who has found profit therefrom. Man's complete ruin in sin, and God's perfect remedy in Christ, are fully, clearly, and often strikingly, presented, especially in the earlier chapters. To Christ's servants in the gospel sound, forcible statements as to what sin is and what grace is, are deeply valuable in the present time, when so much that is merely superficial is abroad. The gospel of Christ, as perfectly meeting man's nature, condition, and character, is comparatively little known, and less proclaimed. Hence, the numerous doubts, fears, and unsettled questions which fill the hearts and perplex the consciences of many of God's dear children. Until the soul is led to see that the entire question of sin and the claims of divine holiness were all and forever settled on the cross, sweet, quiet rest of conscience will be but little known. Nothing can meet the urgent cry of a troubled conscience but the one perfect sacrifice of Christ; offered to God for us, on the cross. "For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us." There, and there alone it will find a perfect answer to its every claim; because there it will find, through believing, all ground of doubt and fear removed, the whole question of sin eternally settled, every divine requirement fully met, and a solid foundation laid for present, settled peace, in the presence of divine holiness: Christ "delivered for our offences, and raised again for our justification," settles every thing.

In the Person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ there is an infinite fullness, which meets every necessity of man, both as a sinner and as a worshiper. The infinite dignity of His Person gives eternal value to His work. In the book of Genesis we have seen "God's remedy for man's ruin" in the promised seed-the Ark of Salvation, and in the rich unfoldings of divine grace to fallen and sinful man. There we have the Bud, the full-blown glories and fragrance of which shall yet fill the heavens and the earth with joy and gladness. In the book of Exodus we have seen "God's answer to man's question." There, man is not only outside of Eden, but he has fallen into the hands of a cruel and powerful enemy, -he is the bond-slave of the world. How is he to be delivered from Pharaoh's thraldom-from Egypt's furnace? How can he be redeemed, justified, and brought into the promised land? God only could answer such questions, and this He did in the blood of the slain Lamb. In the redemption-power of that blood, every question is settled. It meets Heaven's highest claims, and man's deepest necessities. Through its amazing efficacy, God is glorified, man is redeemed, saved, justified, and brought to God's holy habitation; while the enemy is completely overthrown, and his power destroyed
