From the author: Although there is a rhythmic quality to this poetry, I consider my writing's to be characteristic of storytelling. Some topics deriving from actual experiences, while other's from mere observations and/or creative thought. Some relate to my spiritual awakenings, in which I have learned that as things exist in the "natural", there is an equally parallel connection to the "spiritual". It is from that new found reality/enlightenment that my words tend to flow. Poetry can speak to us and touch each part which comprises the totality of our existence... mind, body, soul, and spirit. Although I hope to embrace you in your uniqueness, if I can connect with just a fraction of who you are, then my writing will not have been in vain.

It wasn't fear. It wasn't anger. It wasn't frustration. It was a realization that poured through Shawn's veins as he stood over a man he once considered his brother. It was an understanding that nothing would be the same, as the custom, silver plated Glock weighed down his hand. With all eyes watching him, his trigger finger squeezed slowly and concluded a chapter he hoped to never write.Every journey. Every moment. Every minute they spent together flooded to the front of his mind. Through tears, he escaped the warm embrace of times gone by. His next voyage would be alone, into a wilderness of the unknown.Marcus' time was over. When Shawn put a bullet in the head of his best friend, the Staple Hills drug dynasty welcomed a new leader. He applied the diamond encrusted crown to the top of his waves and led the streets towards the future and away from his complicated past. What he couldn't know is that his past wasn't done with him.Would Shawn rule the streets, understanding that the only constant for everyone is their history or would he be crushed by the weight of its AFTERMATH.

An attempt to view historical phonological change as an ongoing, recurrent process, a phenomenon which the author feels is disguised by too great a reliance upon certain characteristics of the scholarly tradition.
