Sie hat verlangt, daß wir zu ihr kommen und das Jawort wegen der Heirat mit ihrer Jungfer Tochter abholen sollen. Wir sind von Berlin hieher gereiset. Wir sind schon vier Tage hier. Und alle Tage hat sich ein Hindernis finden müssen, dem Herrn Simon das versprochene Ja zu erteilen. Morgen müssen wir wieder fort. Und der heutige Tag ist endlich zu der Versprechung angesetzt. Gleichwohl sehe ich noch wenig Anstalt dazu.LORCHEN. Gedulden Sie sich nur bis um vier Uhr, wenn ich bitten darf. Eher nimmt die Frau Richardin keinen Besuch an. Sage Julchen, daß er funfzigtausend Taler bares Geld hätte und¿ Arme Tochter! es mag dir wohl weh tun, daß deine Schwester so reich heiratet. Je nun, du bist freilich nicht die Schönste; aber der Himmel wird dich schon versorgen. Betrübe dich nicht.

Mein Vetter, der auch ein Landedelmann war, doch in seiner Jugend studiert hatte, nahm mich nach meines Vaters Tode zu sich auf sein Landgut und erzog mich bis in mein sechzehntes Jahr.
