The purpose of this book was to urge reconsideration of taken-for-granted assumptions about the appropriate relationship between home and secondary school. It can be read today in its historical context.
From 7 years old, she held a horrible secret that she dare not tell anyone, not even her mother. It was such a heavy burden she carried all alone. She felt abandonment, fear, shame, failure, loss, guilt, and embarrassment. Never dealing with her childhood trauma, it affected how she dealt with her family and friends and the choices that she made in her life. She never trusted anyone again.
