Encontros (Meetings) is the largest and most prestigious book collection of interviews with Brazilian artists and thinkers. With more than 50 published titles, Encontros provides a broad panorama of Brazil's cultural and intellectual wealth. Darcy Ribeiro was many: the anthropologist who, in addition to original theoretical thought, turned to the defense of indigenous peoples; the educator, creator of the University of Brasília and the CIEPs (the schools that revolutionated the Brazilian education); the revolutionary politician; the passionate man. In this volume of the Encontros Collection, we review his trajectory and his interventions, in his best interviews.
The Biblioteca Básica Latino-Americana was originally conceived by Darcy Ribeiro during his years of exile in the 1960s-1970s. The proposal of the collection is thus to promote reflection on Latin American thought, presented in a comprehensive way, through essays and texts by important artists and thinkers. Darcy Ribeiro was the Brazilian thinker who most deeply immersed himself in the reflection and proposition about Latin America, always in the original and interventive way that marked all his political and intellectual performance.
Cadernos Ultramares seeks to present Brazilian culture and thought in a qualified way, through volumes bringing together important essays by renowned authors in different areas of knowledge. Anthropologist, educator, and politician, Darcy Ribeiro was one of the most active and propositive Brazilian thinkers. The texts gathered here show Darcy Ribeiro in his full capacity to think and imagine, with boldness and beauty, about Brazilian culture in a broad way.
