The growing popularity of True Occultism and Mysticism throughout the whole world has at last induced us to try and issue a series, books that should be an honor to the Universal Father, to True Occultism and Mysticism, and to those who stand for all that is good in humanity. There is also another matter which has induced us to try to see whether such an effort would be appreciated. This demand we will, therefore, meet, and "The Initiates" will be such a series of which every true student will be proud. This is Book Three of a series.
You will find herein six essays that will be of great interest we believe, to many people. Written by the leading minds of their time, with topics that vary in matter, from philosophy to theology and all of the in between. Allow us to apologize however, for although the essays are short, they are not necessarily considered light reading.Written with the purpose to evoke intellectual consideration, you will delight in their intense delivery. The selections of the authors were based on the topic presented; the author's political, social or religious beliefs or circumstances were not considered. Although there may be authors with somewhat of a controversial history, you will nevertheless find the essays delightfully intellectual. The essays originally were published in the year 1905.

Those who have read the first volume of this series, which deals with the E.A. Degree, will realize that our ceremonies have a deep inner meaning and teach profound spiritual lessons seldom realized by the average Mason. In the second volume we are dealing with the degree of Life, in its broadest sense, just as in the first degree we were dealing with the degree of birth, and as life in reality is educational for the Soul, we are not surprised to find that throughout the whole degree the subject of education is more or less stressed. We should, however, realize that each of the degrees builds on the one which has gone before, and the ingenuity with which the lessons inculcated in the first degree are carried forward and developed in the succeeding degrees is one of the most striking characteristics of our Masonic ritual.
