Book 2 in The Redemption of Wist series. When Wist and Aviti land in the northern continent of Pyrite, still pursuing Tilden, a black sun arrives in the sky, threatening the land and the Sun itself. They find Pyrite engulfed in war and are quickly separated. Aviti is captured and enslaved by the invading Intoli. They have swept down from the North seeking something they call the Arkasona. Meanwhile Wist befriends the native Giants. Then he learns that Tilden, his brother and ancient enemy has infiltrated the Intoli and that he will use Aviti and her abilities to destroy this world and secure his escape from it. They must find their own paths to freedom and decipher the riddle of the black sun or the land shall be consumed by shadow forever.
