From the third of February 1933, when he told his generals in the secret of his ultimate ambition to invade and conquer the East, to the third of September 1939, when he left the Berlin Chancellery for the Polish front, Adolf Hitler had one obsessive goal - to wage war and achieve German revenge and hegemony. It was, as the world knows, to be a war that would leave forty million dead, lay waste most of Europe and half of Asia, and destroy the Third Reich. As he did in his celebrated and controversial Hitler's War, David Irving sets forth the events from behind Hitler's desk, as it were, to see and understand each episode through his eyes. His use of original and unpublished firsthand material has led him across Europe searching for documents and correspondence. As a result, he rewards his readers with a fuller picture of both the political preparation for the war and the intricate network of personal relationships on which Hitler's Reich eventually foundered. He uncovered extensive records of wiretaps made on British and French embassies in Berlin during 1938-39.In his assiduous detective work, he also located the private papers of Weizsäcker, Ribbentrop's state secretary, and the diaries of Walther Hewel, Ribbentrop's liaison with Hitler. Many pages of photographs from private collections provide new views of Hitler and those who surrounded him. Thus, Irving draws from the journals and letters of Hitler's subordinates, creating an immediate and authentic atmosphere. As a result, what have previously seemed inexplicable actions on Hitler's part are illuminated and new light is shed on Nazi Germany in the six years before the war.
THIS BOOK tells the Real History of the dramatic flight which Adolf Hitler's deputy Rudolf Hess made in 1941 to Scotland in an attempt to stop the war before the saturation bombing holocaust began. Intercepted before he could reach the King of England, Hess vanished into the maw of MI6, the Secret Service, and was held as Winston Churchill's personal prisoner. British files relate how experts used truth drugs and hidden microphones to try to prise the secrets out of him. Taken to Nuremberg in 1945, Hess outwitted - and eventually outlived - his tormentors. He died mysteriously in 1987 after spending 46 years in jail.
New hardback edition of world's bestknown Rommel biography. Field Marshal Rommel has been described as one of the ten greatest military commanders of all time. This is the first biography of this charismatic leader to rely almost entirely on the original records of the period. David Irving's exhaustive research led him to a dusty personnel file on the young Rommel - applying and being turned down - for army commissions; the long lost Rommel Diaries, dictated day by day to an army corporal and covering the two momentous years of his triumphs and defeats in North Africa, and numerous other private papers. From them emerges the picture of both the outstanding soldier and the military commander, who tactical genius, brilliance on the battlefield, and extraordinary exploits captured the world, and of the private man - Rommel as a husband and father.
The Mare's Nest is about twelve thousand German scientists and engineers laboured with sixteen thousand slave labourers to build the secret weapons that would reduce London to ruins: how close they came to success! Here is the full story written from secret British and German documents, and from the private papers of the scientists and war leaders who mounted the British Intelligence counter-offensive.In Germany inter-service rivalry undermined the competing weapons projects until all were too late; and in Britain the most tempestuous dispute of the war thundered along the corridors of Whitehall, while senior defense scientists waged their personal battles. For a year, the British War Cabinet was led to believe that the German rockets were a well-planned giant hoax, a 'mare's nest' as the Prime Minister's personal Scientific Adviser, the controversial Lord Cherwell, put it on October 25, 1943.Here are the secret disputes and intrigues that rocked the War Cabinet for eighteen vital months of the Second World War. Here too is the full story of the heroic R.A.F. Bomber Command assault on the Peenemünde rocket installations. This narrative of the tremendous duel between Hitler with his research scientists and engineers and the British Government with its Intelligence and Scientific experts and codebreakers, will enhance Mr. Irving's reputation for brilliant investigation of little known aspects of the last war.

This book tells the story of animal trapping starting at the beginning. It will bring readers face to face with trappers and into close contact with the business of manufacturing fur while dispelling some of the common myths associated with trapping. And it will ask why the Congress of the United States is unable to break off its romance with this cruel industry and put the trapping of animals to an end. No argument can ever justify cruelty to animals in any form. They are the innocents of the world who deserve protection from those members among human ranks who believe that cruelty toward animals is acceptable human behavior. More than anyone, this refers to those members of the powerful and wealthy upon whom the fur trade rests. They are responsible for the continuation of the cruel practice of trapping animals. Viewed from every conceivable angle, the trapping of animals occupies one of history's most brutal chapters. It is time to bring that chapter to a close. Those who are addicted to fur can use their creative energies in a positive manner to look within to find new ways for satisfying their fashion needs in a manner which does not require the brutal killing and torture of God's most innocent creatures.
Just who were our prehistoric ancestors and how did they perceive life around them? What is their legacy to us both good and bad? This book takes us back to the dawn of human existence to trace the path of human interactions with the animal kingdom. It shows how humans created a widening divide between themselves and the animals with whom they had managed to coexist for millions of years before they embarked on a program of killing them through hunting and trapping. In the process they grew ever more dependent on animals as they created a way of life which today scientists are warning seriously threatens human existence. Animal dependency lies at the very core of the major problems humans face as the world skids toward disaster. We can restore sanity to our world by changing our attitudes toward animals from one of cruelty and disrespect to one of concern and respect. When humans stop killing animals they will stop killing one another.

The author makes the case that the early church fathers abandoned the teachings of Jesus and adopted in their place Aristotle's hierarchical theory of nature which relegated animals to insignificant, expendable items put on earth only for humans to use in whatever manner they chose. In the process they mistakenly and wrongly attributed this teaching to God and to Jesus. Aristotle's theory has become the norm for thinking about animals ever since playing a significant role in creating an animal dependent world. It accounts for the attitudes of indifference with which not only Christians but the general public regards animals. Though it may be uncomfortable to ask, the question which hardly can be avoided is whether it is following in the footsteps of Jesus to be cruel to animals or is this not the path which was paved with the theories of Aristotle? For Christians who insist they are not cruel people, can it be considered anything other than cruel to participate in using animals for food, clothing, cosmetics, and household items, including hand soap, which have been tortured, treated horribly, and inhumanely killed in producing those products? For Christians, the correct question to ask must surely be, "What would Jesus do," not "What would Aristotle do."
The Voice in the Stone is a novel about the Dominican Priest Meister Eckhart (1260 to 1328), regarded by many scholars, theologians, and devotees as one of the great Christian medieval mystics and one of the most brilliant and important of all Christian thinkers. Meister Eckhart was famous in his own lifetime as a preacher and spiritual leader who preached and taught in Germany and France. He was popular with the Beguines, a religious organization of primarily widowed women, many of whom were attracted to mysticism. One of Eckhart's highest priorities was to teach the ignorant and uneducated so that they could learn the art of living and dying. In this pursuit he gave his sermons in the common dialect which aroused considerable enmity from the clergy to whom Latin was the only appropriate language for giving sermons and who saw no reason for trying to lift the peasants out of their rut of poverty. In the year 1326 Meister Eckhart was charged with heresy by the Archbishop of Cologne, essentially on the grounds that he taught matters that could easily lead people astray. Meister Eckhart died during his trial. A year later, Pope John XXII condemned several of the Meister's writings as heretical whereupon they were removed from the church canon. The Meister was not alive to protest and his writings and good name were disgraced. Only in recent years has the church agreed with critics that Meister Eckhart was a good and orthodox theologian, though it has not lifted the official ban on his work. The Voice in the Stone tells the story of Meister Eckhart's life and describes his central spiritual message of oneness with God and his methodology for achieving that union. Because so few personal facts about Meister Eckhart have survived, the author recounts his story through interactions with different characters as they engage in a series of adventures and brushes with the law in a society obsessed with the fear of heresy. The author uses Meister Eckhart's own writings for much of his spoken dialogue and for conveying his spiritual message. The Voice in the Stone includes a short factual biography of Meister Eckhart's life and of the 700 year effort to keep his work alive after his death.

The Cruel Science tells the story of animal research from ancient times to the present. It discusses Aristotle influence in its evolution and the major role Christianity has unwittingly played in creating the attitudes upon which animal research depends. The book exposes the probable responsibility of animal research for the AIDS epidemic and many forms of cancer and how the industry has invented a perpetual money producing machine that bilks the public out of billions of dollars every year for needless, senseless experiments that are often exceptionally cruel.

Author's statement: I began attending church about three years ago after a long absence. Not too long after I started, I was surprised to read in the church bulletin that a hunter would be giving a talk at the church. Even more surprising, the pastor announced the talk during the opening remarks at the main service and enthusiastically encouraged the congregation to attend because this hunter could be counted on to give an inspiring Christian testimonial. I was shocked to learn that Christians were attaching this cruel activity of hunting to Jesus and Christianity. It reminded me of stories I had heard long ago when I was growing up about white Christian ministers in the segregated South who gave sermons in which they promoted racial segregation. But I had just moved to an area where hunting was popular and so I was in for even bigger shocks to learn that quite a few Christian churches support hunting and that many Christian hunting organizations have formed which believe that hunting is Christian. This was not the Jesus who I knew growing up as a boy in a small Indiana community. That Jesus did not hunt, and most Christians I had ever known would not have thought so either. An essential element of Jesus' teaching seemed to me to be missing here which was that Jesus' compassion extended not just to human beings but to all creation. The great 20th century theologian Albert Schweitzer understood when he wrote: "Compassion, in which all ethics must take root, can only attain its full breadth and depth if it embraces all living creatures and does not limit itself to humankind." Schweitzer understood this, and I understood it and so did many other Christians and non-Christians wherever they lived. I just couldn't allow this Christian/hunters paradigm to stand without speaking out against it. The question for me became could I prove what I believed? Was the evidence there to be found in the Bible and in the words of Jesus himself? Was it there in the long stretch of human history visible for everyone to see if it could only be brought to the surface? Three years later, this small book, Is It Christian to Hunt, is the result of my study of these and other issues related to hunting. It is my challenge to Christian hunters and to all Christians who believe it is Christian to hunt.
