"I got and read this book on recommendation from a friend, and I have to admit that I'm thoroughly impressed with it.It's a deep dive into some local Greek mythology, told in a story-with-a-plot kind-of-way. It probably helps if you are already interested in this particular material, because there's a lot.The book's pacing is overall easy, and sometimes it just drops a bomb on you. Event happened, plot shifts, no questions asked or answers given! While reading it I thought of Game of Thrones and even in Blood Meridian the way characters can be just written off without a second thought. It's refreshing to not need every sub-plot neatly tied off with a bow. Although, I do think back to one of the characters and wonder WHY?!?!The meat of this book is the mythology, and it's couched in the plot, so it's not just a dry recounting of stories. There's a goal to these ancient character and how they relate to the book. I believe it's somewhat autobiographical, and I'd be curious to know the author and get her real story.>"A personal and honest story of a relatable woman evolving past her challenging experience in California. Following her repatriation to Greece, she is able to find restoration in both her physical and emotional being. Also, the reader gets an in-depth account on Greek history and culture. Much recommended.: )" Reader review ""ARTEMIS CHILD" is a fun hybrid of fiction and non-fiction reading. The fictional elements evolve around Maria's life and adventures, and the non-fictional elements are centred around the ancient history and archeology of the Peloponnese, including Mycenaean and earlier civilizations such as Arcadian antiquity. Every time I re-read passages, I discover new things I previously missed... A very refreshing and unexpected read!" Reader review "I enjoyed reading this book and learned a lot about the towns the author refers to. Interestingly enough, these towns are where my own family is from. The blend of historical facts and mythology makes it a very interesting read! What a treasure!" Reader review The Dominator, V for Vendetta, and Ancient Mysteries Greek-born Maria grew up in the United States. She was living in Southern California when a life changing event brought her back to Greece. Back to her birthplace.>The author's love of adventure, persistence in research, and good sense of humor add excitement, interest, and entertainment to the journey. As she goes in search of the ancient history, mythology, and even magic of the Mythical Peloponnese. (The book includes an analysis of some of the mysteries of Argos and ancient Mycenae and a recount of the history of the beginning of the Trojan War. It also includes research and findings of some archaic Arcadian towns and districts. Mysteries of Anthini, Cynouria, Tegea, Caryatae, and others).
