Ghosts are the true immortals, and the dead grow more alive all the time. Wraiths have a greater vitality to-day than ever before. They are far more numerous than at any time in the past, and people are more interested in them. There are persons that claim to be acquainted with specific spirits, to speak with them, to carry on correspondence with them, and even some who insist that they are private secretaries to the dead. Others of us mortals, more reserved, are content to keep such distance as we may from even the shadow of a shade. But there's no getting away from ghosts nowadays, for even if you shut your eyes to them in actual life, you stumble over them in the books you read, you see them on the stage and on the screen

The love of man for the paranormal has never been more evident than it is now. The haunting world's population has significantly increased since the most recent census. All facets of literature reflect the shadow less spirit, and even a lodge in a vast wilderness would have the company of spirits.According to a magazine article, Mr. Boggs' ghost was frustrated by spectral visitors. At a séance, he had previously conversed with a speaker claiming to be his brother's ghost. He thought, "I'm not so darn sure!According to Schopenhauer, a belief in ghosts is innate to man and can be found in all ages and locations. Man is fascinated by the topic because he is aware that whether or not he has seen a ghost, he will eventually become one.Modern ghosts are evolving complexes of various kinds, making them less simple and primitive than their forebears. They use all of the mortals' mechanisms and agencies in addition to their own means of communication and transportation.More often than any other animal, the dog makes an appearance in fiction as a ghost. The poetry of Richard Le Gallienne appeals to readers with tenderness rather than terror.

The Supernatural In Modern English Fiction is a book written by Dorothy Scarborough that explores the use of supernatural elements in English literature. The book covers a wide range of authors and works, from the Gothic novels of the 18th and 19th centuries to modern horror and science fiction. Scarborough analyzes the ways in which supernatural elements are used to create mood, atmosphere, and suspense, as well as to explore deeper themes and ideas. She also examines the cultural and historical context of these works, and how they reflect the anxieties and fears of their time. The book is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the supernatural in literature, and provides a fascinating insight into the evolution of this genre over time. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Hun stod bag to store folklore-samlinger: On the Trail of Negro Folksongs (1925) og A Song Cathcher in Southern Mountains der udkom posthumt i 1937. Hun fik endvidere udgivet tre romaner.
