A Poet's Last Stand is the first poetry collection released by Ed Roberts. This is the 2'nd edition of that book. After a life-threatening illness in the year 2000 Roberts decided to publicly share his work. His writing is influenced both by his long Oklahoman and Native American heritage as well as by national and international topics including cultural, political, and social issues. Different organizations refer people to his poetry web site to fight alcoholism, drug abuse, and terrorism. At the end of each book there is a special poem followed by several pages of comments people have left in the feedback section of his poetry site. His poems have changed and yes even saved several lives and save been shared and taught in several countries around the world. "From the Pill to the Bottle to You" is the seventh poetry collection released by Ed Roberts. This book however is specifically targeted to help those who are fighting with drug or alcohol addiction.In 2006 Ed started "The Poetry For Life Project" which consisted of three small books which contained several of the most powerful poems he had written. Each of these books addressed specific issues from addiction, abuse in the family, and even suicide.In 2011 he chose to close the project because he could no longer keep it funded on his own.A lot has changed since 2011 but Ed felt the need for these books has grown more and more."From the Pill to the Bottle to You" is what he has called the first of his new Poetry for Life books.He does plan on releasing others in the future.

On the back cover of this book is a comment I received from a man who decided to leave a PLO terrorist training camp because someone shared my poetry with him. "Sometimes We Wait" is the second book in the new Poetry for Life Project by Ed Roberts. His first book in the series "From the Pill to the Bottle to You" is designed to help those fighting drug and/or alcohol addiction. "Sometimes We Wait" is designed to help those who find themselves in waiting rooms of hospitals, nursing homes, or dealing with the loss of loved ones. With this book Ed is hoping to bring a glimmer of hope and love into some of the darkest moments a human can face and does so with truly heart-felt words that will not leave the reader untouched.

"The Traveler" is the sixth poetry collection released by Oklahoma poet Ed Roberts. His poems are written in free verse ignoring traditional rules such as regular meter, rhyme, and alliteration. He writes on social topics and current events and often many of his poems are shared with people in several countries and translated into different languages. As with his previous poetry collections, Ed shares comments that have been left in the Feedback Section of his poetry site www.poetrypoem.com/apoetslaststand, after a special poem written for each book. He has stated "These tell a story far greater than anything I could ever write." Unlike Ed's previous poetry collections in "The Traveler" he has also chosen to share several articles he wrote for The Student Operated Press web site, www.thesop.org titled "The Story Behind the Poem." With the poems themselves he shares a brief story giving the events that lead up to each poem being created. Also in "The Traveler" Ed has chosen to include a short comedy skit and a full-length stage play he wrote stating that in the title of the book it does state "Poetry and More." This does give the reader an insight to Ed Roberts they have not seen before.

Ed Roberts is a young, talented and ambitious midfielder playing for Northtown United, a club buried in the depths of the Football League. A new owner and manager transform its fortunes and steers it into the First Division. Coke Roberds and Si Dawson were both born in 1870, grew up on ranches and were life-long friends. They both moved to ranches in Routt County, Colo., shortly after the turn of the 20th Century, and raised cattle and horses. They were passionate about finding and raising the best possible horses for ranch work and racing. In 1914, 16-year-old Marshall Peavy acquired a nearby ranch and immediately shared his neighbors' passion for breeding the best to the best. He married the local school teacher, Mavis Caldwell, and she went on to become a famous horse breeder as well. Another nearby pioneer family, the Semotans, joined in with the neighborhood horse activities. In those days horses were important for transportation and work, for gathering cattle and sheep, and for supplying the U.S. Cavalry with mounts to meet their needs. To the families of that time and place, their horses were a source of income, but also a source of pride and entertainment-for racing, roping and polo. Marshall and Mavis Peavy hosted an annual "field day" on their ranch, which included a variety of horse competitions, picnic lunches and lots of visiting. Another important family, the Casements, moved to this area near Steamboat Springs, Colo., and also contributed greatly to the development of the Quarter Horse and Appaloosa breeds. These early-day breeders bought, sold and traded horses among themselves and created a nation-wide demand for their equine off-spring. Many of their descendants are still involved with horses today. The 148-page book includes 185 black-and-white photos, mostly depicting the pioneer breeders, their horses and lifestyles.
