Eddie Thompson continues to produce simple, usually short verses musing on the vicissitudes of modern life, from lockdown during the Covid-19 pandemic to lighting the fire. His verses are based on his day-to-day experiences, observations andthoughts about life, and are witty, original and usually light-hearted. This is the seventh volume in the series.
This is the fourth collection of Eddie's poetry; he says that the verses hover somewhere between doggerel and light verse. He also says: Serious poetry is mainly melancholy, As serious poets are, mainly, off their trolley, So don't expect anything grand, It's simple fare, borderline bland. But may these short and simple rhymes, In these tense and troubled times, Give you cause to pause awhile, And as you read them, bring a smile.
This collection of Eddie's light verse, Poetry Decaffed, completes a trilogy which began with Poetry Lite and continued with Poetry Free Range. Verses in all three collections touch lightly, briefly and often humorously on life. He writes of this volume: These verses will neither excite nor disturb, But you have to admit that the cover's superb. And he does hope that at least, they will bring you a smile.
Eddie Thompson is an expatriate Manxman who settled in Milton Keynes with his Welsh wife Enid and daughters Kirsty and Gill in 1981. His verses are based on his experiences, observations and thoughts about life and are for the most part refreshingly brief. He published his first volume, Poetry Lite, in 2015. This second collection again covers a variety of subjects from youth to age, singing to shopping and black puddings to religion.
This is the eighth volume of (mainly) poetry published by Eddie Thompson ruminating upon the quirks, foibles and mysteries of modern everyday life, but this one is a little different. It has been published in memory of his beloved Enid, who died unexpectedly in January 2021. All the pieces are related, directly, or indirectly, to Enid and the couple's many happy years together.
