The year began as any other. Sure, there had already been whispering on the news about a novel coronavirus taking hold half a world away, but the odds of it affecting us in the United States were... slim? Roll forward to present and we have a new shared lexicon: Masks. Social distancing. Zoom. Quarantine. COVID-19. Inlandia's workshops moved from in-person to a virtual setting, but we would not be deterred. This year's anthology represents the hope and vision of 62 writers, a mix of returning and new participants, from the region and beyond-because with Zoom, geographic boundaries dissolved. 2016 Writing from Inlandia is an anthology produced by participants in Inlandia's Creative Writing Workshops program.

This book Folk Tales for Children makes a strong case that well-chosen stories give children good role models and increase their empathy for others. It doesn't just hand children simplistic moral precepts, but give them the opportunity to think about and discuss moral choices. Folk Tales for Children is a compilation of 50 one-page short stories for children. Language used is elementary and simple. Each story comes with a caricature type illustration in black & white to retain interest of young readers. The moral at the end of the story summaries precisely what the child is supposed to learn! These stories educate children about a family, tradition, ethos, social mores or share cultural insight or a combination of all these.
