Are you in a TOXIC relationship or trying to recover from one?Elizabeth waited fifty years to write a searing and honest account about her involvement with a Big Bad Wolf, a man who sought to control her emotionally, spiritually, and psychically. Elizabeth shares insights drawn from myths and fairy tales to illustrate how mistrusting her perceptions and inner warnings led to folly. Her book covers it all; from her difficult childhood to a mystical experience, her toxic relationship and subsequent trauma, and her long quest for inner healing. She writes with warmth and compassion about her experiences, occasionally injecting sly humour into the story. She wishes to encourage women who have been through similar experiences so that they, too can grow from survivor to thriver. "What a courageous story of triumph. I could relate to times in my life when I betrayed my own sense of knowing and experienced deep despair from accepting someone else's claims of what I should believe. Elizabeth's book lets us know we are not alone in this experience and provides tools for forgiving ourselves and going on to live a full life."-Esther Hart, author of Journey to Personal Freedom and Giggle Factor, a Grownup Fairy Tale

The story behind the classic and universally recognized rhyme! This luminous picture book biography shines a light on the little-known poet and author of the beloved lullaby.Twinkle, twinkle, little star, how I wonder what you are. Did you ever wonder who wrote that famous verse? In the days when most girls were brought up to run a home, Jane Taylor had a different kind of education in the English countryside, where she was inspired by nature and the stars, and dreamed of becoming a writer. But in the late 1700s, it was not considered proper for women to be writers. Jane and other female poets were shunned, unable to use their own names when published. But Jane did write, and she never forgot her love for the beauty of nature and the glow of stars, or her desire to write for children. Her published poetry became universally known for generations to come: Twinkle, twinkle little star. This lyrical and luminous biography shines a light on the unsung poet who wrote the words of our most enduring lullaby, and features stunning artwork reflecting the world, the stars, and the story behind the poem that we all know so well.

The title page calls the author of this 1888 work 'A Lady Astronomer'. She was Elizabeth Brown (1830-99), and the shadow she was pursuing was the eclipse of the sun on 19 August 1887, which could be best observed in northern Russia. Brought up by her father to make weather observations and to use a telescope, she became a member of the Liverpool Astronomical Society - on behalf of which she undertook her Russian expedition - and was later active in founding the British Astronomical Association. (The Royal Astronomical Society did not at this point admit women.) The book describes her journey, from her arrival at Hull to meet her travelling companion, to Russia, and home again. The actual viewing of the eclipse, at Kineshma, 200 miles north-east of Moscow, was spoiled by cloud cover, but her lively and observant account of her adventures is a fascinating record by a pioneering female scientist.
