Most Polish Jews who survived the Second World War did not go to concentration camps, but were banished by Stalin to the remote prison settlements and Gulags of the Soviet Union. Ellen G. Friedman's The Seven, A Family Holocaust Story is an account of this displacement.

Asserts that moral diversity cannot, and should not, be suppressed. This text calls for recognition of the multiplicity of moral structures that exist in the US. It argues that morality should be thought of as local and contingent, a product of argument and compromise, not as a self-evident truth.
