Quante e quali condizioni erano richieste a rinsavirlo? Perché era sciocco? Perché sarebbe ora savio?
Non sarà inutile né ozioso, poiché abbiam tempo, mentovare la prima fonte e origine onde ci è nato il buon Pantagruele. Vedo infatti che così han trattato le loro croniche, tutti i buoni storiografi, non solamente, Arabi, Barbari, Latini e Greci, ma anche gli autori della Santa Scrittura come Monsignor San Luca e parimenti San Matteo. Vi convien prender nota dunque che, al principio del mondo (parlo di tempi molto lontani, or sono piú di quaranta quarantine di notti per contare al modo degli antichi Druidi) poco dopo che Abele fu ucciso dal fratello Caino, la terra, imbevuta del sangue del giusto...
