Media and Political Conflict is the first book that offers a dynamic and comprehensive approach to studying the role of the media in confrontations as small as protests and as large as wars, and applies this approach to analyse three conflicts: the Gulf war, the Palestinian intifada, and the attempt by the Israeli right wing to derail the Israeli-Palestinian peace accord.

This book examines the role the news media plays in peace processes, arguing that it is often destructive. Wolfsfeld examines three major cases: the Oslo peace process between Israel and the Palestinians; the peace process between Israel and Jordan; and the process surrounding the Good Friday Agreement in Northern Ireland.
